4. Replace OPC or ITB and retest.

1. Vertical Black Line and Band

Description: 1. Straight thin black vertical lines occur on the printout 2. Dark black vertical bands occurs on the printout

Check and Cause Solution

1. Damaged development roller, deformed doctor-blade : In case of one color

2. Scratched / contaminated surface of the charging roller in OPC set : all colors layered

3. Damaged / contaminated ITB (Image Transfer Belt) : waste toner color

4. Damaged / deformed cleaning blade (OPC/ITB) : waste toner color

2. Vertical White Line

Description: White vertical lines in the image.

Check and Cause

1. Clean the LSU window with recommended cleaner (IPA).

2. If foreign matter is inside LSU, replace LSU unit.

3. Replace toner cartridge.

4. Replace ITB unit.

5. Check the fuser ribs corresponding to white spot. Remove foreign matter or replace parts.

Solution

1. Contamination of the window or internal lenses of LSU : in case of all colors

2. Foreign matter in toner cartridge : one color

3. If the fuser is damaged, white spots occur periodically : all colors

4. ITB cleaning blade could touch with ITB wiping off a part of image : all colors

3. Horizontal Dark Band or White Band

Description: Dark or blurry horizontal stripes occur on the printout periodically

Check and Cause

1. Clean all high voltage terminals in the cartridge and the frame of the printer.

2. See the periodic table in the left to identify what sort of unit or component causes the problem.

Replace the relevant unit.

Solution

1. Bad contacts between the imaging unit and high voltage terminals.

2. The rollers in the toner cartridge may be contaminated.

1) Charge roller – 37.7 mm2) Supply roller – 32.8 mm3) Develop roller – 26 mm 4) Transfer roller(T1) – 43.8 mm 5) Transfer roller(T2) – 55.2 mm 6) OPC Drum – 188.5 mm7) Fusier – 88.4 mm

4. Black / White Spot

Description: 1. Dark or blurry spots occur periodically in the printing 2. White spots occur periodically in the printing

Check and Cause

See the periodic table in the left to identify what sort of unit or component causes the problem. Replace the relevant unit.

Solution

Foreign matter sticking or contamination on toner cartridge, OPC drum, ITB unit, or fuser.

1) Charge roller – 37.7 mm2) Supply roller – 32.8 mm3) Develop roller – 26 mm 4) Transfer roller(T1) – 43.8 mm 5) Transfer roller(T2) – 55.2 mm 6) OPC Drum – 188.5 mm7) Fusier – 88.4 mm

5. Dark Image or Black

Description: The printed image is dark

Check and Cause

Check electric contacts to the HVPS

Solution

1. No charging voltage in the engine board.

2. Regardless of printable image, composite black image is printed. There could be a problem in charging process

3. In the case, it could cause wrap jam in the fuser

6. Uneven Density

Description: Print Density is uneven between left and right

Check and Cause

1. Check if transfer roller and connected parts are properly installed

2. Replace ITB unit

3. Replace toner cartridge

Solution

1. The pressure on the transfer roller by right and left spring is not even: springs are damaged, transfer roller is improperly installed, or transfer roller’s bushing or holders are damaged.

2. Toner cartridge has been expired.

3. Toner level is too low in the development cartridge.
