2. HISTORY OF CLOUD
Concept dating back to the 1960’s by John McCarthy, a computer scientist, brought up the idea that
"COMPUTATION MAY SOMEDAY BE ORGANIZED AS A PUBLIC UTILITY”
Idea that revolutionized Cloud Computing:
“ the cloud is a natural next step from the grid-utility model,” said :-Frank Gens, (an analyst at the research firm IDC)

•The grid computing concept isn't a new one. It's a special kind of distributed computing.
•In distributed computing, different computers within the same network share one or more resources.
•In the ideal grid computing system, every resource is shared, turning a computer network into a powerful supercomputer.

PRIVATE CLOUD
The computing infrastructure is dedicated to a particular organization and not shared with other organizations.
Private clouds are more expensive and more secure when compared to public clouds.

COMMUNITY CLOUD
It involves sharing of computing infrastructure in between organizations of the same community.
For example all Government organizations within the state of California may share computing infrastructure on the cloud to manage data related to citizens.

In Public cloud the computing infrastructure is hosted by the cloud vendor at the vendors premises.
The customer has no visibility and control over where the computing infrastructure is hosted. The computing infrastructure is shared between any organizations.
PUBLIC CLOUD $KN

Hybrid cloud is a composition of two or more clouds (private, community or public) that remain unique entities but are bound together, offering the benefits of multiple deployment models
The usage of both private and public clouds together is called hybrid cloud.

6. ISSUES
How safe is your data?
Cloud computing means Internet computing. So you should not be using cloud computing applications that involve using or storing data that you are not comfortable having on the Internet.
Cloud computing makes your small business dependent on the reliability of your Internet connection. When it's offline, you're offline.
Security issues.
Possible downtime.

At first glance, a cloud computing application may appear to be a lot cheaper than a particular software solution installed and run in-house, but you need to be sure you're comparing apples and apples. Does the cloud application have all the features that the software does and if not, are the missing features important to you?
