To serve students at a distance, ITP is now offering an Online Master’s in Counseling Psychology program available to working professionals, active parents, and others who are unable to relocate or commute to Palo Alto, CA. This is a low-residency program flexible enough to meet the needs of adult learners who are balancing many responsibilities while furthering their education. With a unique online environment specifically designed to deliver ITP's whole-person education, you will receive superb training, build close relationships with other students and faculty, and participate in a supportive online academic community.TRANSCRIPT
With a Master’s in Transpersonal Clinical Psychology from Sofia University, you will have the education and training to become a clinician skilled in whole-person approaches to health and healing. In addition, you will learn to care for your own growth and well-being in a supportive, collaborative atmosphere.
In addition to providing the education you’ll need for both MFT and LPCC licensing, Sofia University’s MATCP program offers:
• Both on-campus and low-residency (online) formats• Education shaped through a collaborative cohort experience• Experiential skill-building labs • Optional specialization in Creative Expression• Four quarters of practical experience before graduation• Focus on individual, child, couple and family therapy• Professional preparation for both public and private practice
Degree Flexibility The MATCP curriculum is designed to meet the California Board of Behavioral Sciences requirements for licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) or for the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) designation. In your second year, you will have the option to choose either track.
Learning Labs The MATCP program is a learning lab combining theory, practice and group formation with deep personal growth and development. The transpersonal skills labs provide practical application and integration. This focused approach enables you to delve deeply into the rich course materials.
The Transpersonal Mosaic A particularly dynamic component of the program is the Transpersonal Mosaic – an immersion into spiritual practices and innovative transpersonal theories and tools. Coursework includes various styles of meditation, principles of Aikido, theories of transpersonal psychology, and diverse modalities for creative expression.
Actively Practicing Faculty Mentorship is an important teaching tool that helps you flourish academically, personally and professionally. Classes are taught by experienced scholars and clinicians who have integrated psychological and spiritual principles into their counseling practices. Small class sizes allow for dynamic exchanges between you, your classmates and faculty.
The Practicum Year This year allows you to practice the theories and techniques you have studied, and hone your counseling skills with a full year of practical and on-site supervision. The practicum includes both face-to-face client hours (maximum of 1300) and on-site supervision. Additionally, a clinical faculty member will mentor you in a seminar-style class on campus where you will learn to present case histories in accord with professional standards.
