This comes after last year when an 80-year-old Raynham man died from Eastern equine encepha- litis (EEE), which is spread to humans by mosquitoes. Earlier in the month, a state study on EEE showed the number of people in Massachusetts who contracted the mosquito-borne virus has been rising. The budget, which is increased from prior years, is a total of $1.4 million, said Town Administrator Randall Buckner. The contribution from Raynham is $51,000, Buckner said. “It increased a pretty good amount with the EEE threat,” Buckner said. “I highly rec- ommend it.” Selectman Joseph Pacheco said Tuesday’s motion was a reiteration of previous sup- port for the Bristol County Mosquito Control Project’s budget request. Also, during Tuesday’s meeting, the Selectmen approved a request from the Raynham Park dog track and Rockwell Amusement to have a carnival at the dog track on Route 138. “It’s one of those traveling carnival shows,” Buckner said. “They’ll have rides and food vendors.” The carnival will take place through June 3. The Selectmen also approved a special one-day license for Christopher’s restaurant and bar to have a charity fundraiser for a person with cancer on June 10, from 3 to 8 p.m. There will not be a Raynham Board of Selectmen meeting next week, as the Board is now on it’s summer schedule. The Selectmen will now meet every other Tuesday until September. Climbing to the challenge Bristol Aggie students recently took part in the annual Tree Climbing Jamboree at the school.
