Declan Tyldesley Client Brief (Samsung); My client for my commercial radio advertisement is a multinational conglomerate media industry company called Samsung. They are known as a conglomerate company as they attract multiple people into buying their phones and TV’s. In my radio commercial advertisement I think I am going to put my main focus on the conglomerate’s company phones such as the Samsung S6 phone. As my client is quite a big conglomerate within the media industry some of their requirements might be fairly hard to accomplish. In contrast to this I am going to try and advertise their phones professionally on my commercial radio advertisement. Some of their main needs within their commercial radio advertisements are to try and connect with their different audience profiles as much as possible. From this fact as my client Samsung has such a wide and established target audience I am going to have to suggest multiple aspects in my commercial advertisement as they have multiple needs so I can try and connect with the majority of the audience profiles (Age, Gender and Socio-economic Status) they attract. What I mean by this is that it attracts Children by advertising useable technology that isn’t too complicated. By doing this they have created a much more established audience as they have created more technological items that attract multiple profiles (multiplying profits). Some of their target audiences may vary on the style of the advert based on if they want it to be formal, informal, pastiche or comic. If I suggest all of these aspects knowledgeably my commercial radio advertisement should be a success as it may more than likely multiply their profits. Treatment;

The main style of my commercial radio advertisement is going to have a Formal and Direct tone and mode of address. Therefore if the advertisement is successful it will multiply the company’s profits. In contrast to this some of my main reasons for having picking these two styles is because I think it will connect with their audience profiles a lot more as it is direct. In other words the advertisement speaks

directly to the listener, so it catches his/her attention straight. Within my commercial radio advertisement I also think I want to include some Rhetorical Questions throughout so they start to ask themselves the same question(s), this on the other hand shall influence them more to buy the Samsung Galaxy S6 phone I am promoting. All of which I stated above in this paragraph is able to be produced at Eccles Sixth Form Centre (E6 Radio), in terms of the script and the tone of the commercial radio advertisement. By allowing E6 Radio to produce this particular Samsung advertisement it will be produced knowledgeably and professionally so they can promote and sell the company products well.

In contrast, the format of my commercial advertisement is going to be one of two formats either a live read format or a produced script format. Out of either of these two formats I have decided to create a produced script format of a thirty second advertisement. By choosing this format I have a lot more time to construct or establish my commercial advertisement so I can make it a lot better to

make sure it some way appeals to the majority of their audience profiles. If I establish my commercial advertisement well enough it should sell and promote the company and products a lot better than it would in comparison to a live read format.

I feel like from the different aspects I am including in my commercial radio advertisement, it meets the needs of multiple audience profiles or Samsung’s established target audience. One of the aspects in my advertisement that I think is going to work the best and connect more with my or Samsung’s target audience is the Rhetorical Question usage. I think this works well because it makes my audience ask multiple questions to possibly why they haven’t bought the Samsung Galaxy S6 phone yet. Within my advertisement I am also not going to use high vocabulary which some of the audience might not understand, from this I am able to connect more with Samsung’s younger established target audience. Unique selling points are mainly used in every commercial advertisement, they included USP’s to connect more with their audience by including a competition prize or a special deal on the product they are advertising. The unique selling point (USP) within my advertisement is going to try and push more towards a special offer. I think this is a good USP to use in my commercial advertisement because it will attract a much broader audience as there is a special offer on. Therefore from this the general public that are listening to my commercial advertisement will be more influenced into buying the phone for themselves or a family member because of the unique selling point aspect I am including.

Furthermore I managed to calculate an estimated budget for my commercial radio advertisement and the total number has come to a total amount of £1650. If you pay this amount it will include everything we need such as a radio studio, so we are able to make your commercial radio advertisement selling your phone the Samsung Galaxy S6. This total amount includes all of the aspects which are the radio studio, PRS licence, sound engineer, script development, production facilities and the price for what time and what radio station you want your commercial radio advertisement to be broadcasted on. An aspect of the overall price is £300 this price is for the radio commercial to be broadcasted on a radio station this shall allow your commercial advertisement to reach its intended target audience so it sells and promotes your product well.
