From the Executive Director

Dear Parents, Friends & Community Supporters,

As we complete our 35th year of service to the children and families in Tarrant County, we stand proud, professional and ready to provide even better service into the future. We ended the fiscal year in the black and were able to provide a small return to our employees who made this year such a success. Thank you to all who helped recruit and enroll more students into our program. With that said, there are still more children who should be in our program on a daily basis.

We completed the year with more professional development for staff than in years past. Thank you to Frankie McMurrey in her new role. Additionally, we are beginning to train staff on how to assess our programs in a quantitative manner. This will be helpful in the acquisition of scarce funding to support our scholarship program.

In the past year, we were successful in lowering the health care plan premium for our staff. We also changed providers for our retirement plan. Both of these moves will have future advantages for staff. In the arena of efficiency, we are moving forward to fully integrate our information systems. As we move forward, we also face new challenges.

Our service delivery is moving more into self sufficiency skills and improved academic achievements. These changes still keep the basic tenet of the company of enrichment skills. Improvement to our service delivery system is moving forward. This was evidenced by the success of the 2010 summer program.

I believe that the economy has turned the corner with respect to our business. Even so, there are still challenges ahead. We need to secure more grants to support our scholarship program to assist those families who are truly in need. Financial resources will be strained as local governments and school districts strive to balance their budgets through all funding sources available.

Attainment of our mission will be accomplished with professionalism, dedication and a passion to serve the families who entrust their children to our care each day. We have had a great 35th year. We need to make our 36th and future years even better.

Many Clayton Yes! employees are so enthusiastic about their roles that the average tenure of full-time staff is over five years. Many have even been

with Clayton Yes! for 10, 15 or 20+ years!

In 1975 with only 27 students, Clayton YES! was opened to offer parents a stellar child care program that educates and nurtures students after school. After three and a half decades of dedicated service, Clayton Yes! has provided almost 50,000 local children with the tools needed to build successful and fulfilling lives.

GrowthClayton YES! employs 323 highly trained and experienced teachers, child development professionals and administrators who have a passion for creating a safe learning environment that enriches the emotional, intellectual, physical and social growth for young students.

Each employee exceeds the minimum requirement of

15-20 hours of training per year. In fact, 69 percent of

the program’s site managers are director certified.

ratio!

Growth Clayton YES! programs are offered on-site at public and private schools in the Birdville, Keller and For t Worth Independent School Districts and are designed to provide care for children ages 3 months through 18 years.

Thanks to the Fort Worth After School program

(FWAS) and other private foundations, Clayton YES!

now operates 28 grant funded programs and

49 fee based programs. In total, we are serving over 4030 children and

their families throughout Tarrant County.

Fee ProgramsFor thirty-five years, Clayton Yes! has shifted with the changing needs of the community and the demands of the economy. Originally a program that was funded by fees, it has grown into an organization that is funded more through collaborations, grants and government resources. An increasing number of families do not qualify for public assistance and still cannot afford our modest rates for after school care. The Clayton Yes! Scholarship program provides discounts on child care for low-income families who need help. Funds for these scholarships are donated by grantors, local corporations, individual donations and other sources.

Clayton YES! boasts an award-winning summer program.

Through books, team building activities, field trips and mini-

camps such as sewing, music and newspaper club, we encourage

students to expand their horizons in a fun and safe environment.
