    Lesson title: The Comparative and the Superlative of short adjectives

    Type of lesson: grammar lesson& revision lesson;

    Lesson (main) aims: - to revise grammar notions, such as the adjective;

    - to correlate the adjective from English with the adjective from Romanian;

    - to be able to identify adjectives in Positive, Comparative and Superlative

    degree;

    Subsidiary aims: - to practice the work in pairs;

    - to use ones intuition;Skills: speaking, reading, writing, listening

    Anticipated language problems: Pupils/students could become a bit noisy when working in

    pairs/groups; some of them (the dominant ones) may try to answer too often and exclude the

    others. In some cases, pupils may not understand the task given by the teacher;

    Possible solutions: the teacher may ask pupils simultaneously to speak; He/She may repeat the

    task in order to be clear for everybody;

    Teaching aids: the manual, a handout, pupils notebooks, the blackboard, a tape recorder, a tape;

    Modes of interaction: teacher-student, student-student, pair-work;

    Activity 1

    Aim: To familiarize the pupils with the new lesson;

    Procedure: First of all pupils are doing some pronunciation exercises (1, 2, 3 &4 page 26) in order

    to make the difference between [e] and [];

    Interaction: lockstep

    Teachers role: controller

    Skills: reading, listening, speaking, writing.

    Materials: manual, pencils;

    Class management: whole class activity;

    Timing: 15 minutes

    Activity 2

    Aim: To remember the adjective and correlate it with the Romanian language;

    Procedure: The teacher puts down on the blackboard an example containing an adjective, then she

    asks her pupils to translate that sentence into Romanian and to analyse it; after that, the teacher

    asks her pupils to give her some examples containing adjectives in English;

    Interaction: T-Ss, individual work;

    Teachers role: controller;

    Skills: speaking, listening, writing, reading;

    Materials: manual, pencils, notebooks, blackboard;

    Class management: whole class activity;

    Timing: 10 minutes

    Activity 3

    Aims: To make the difference between the Positive, the Comparative and the Superlative degree;

    Procedure: In the following moment the teacher draws a schema on the black board and she

    explains to her pupils the difference between the Positive, the Comparative and the Superlative

    degree;

    Teachers role: involver;

    Skills: writing, speaking, listening, reading;

    Procedure: Pupils are invited to work in pairs and to complete exercise 2 page 27;

    Class management: whole class activity;

    Timing: 7 minutes

    Activity 5

    Aims: To produce new sentences starting from the grammatical notions above mentioned;

    Procedure: The teacher asks her pupils to complete exercise 3 page 27 in written;

    Interaction: lockstep

    Skills: listening, reading, writing, speaking;

    Materials: manual, pencils, notebooks, blackboard;

    Class management: whole class activity;

    Timing: 8 minutes
