Approve a resolution allowing the Mayor to sign an inter-local agreement for the assessment/collection of property taxes.

BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION:Discussion of the what, why, where, when, and how to enable Council to have reasonably complete description of the contemplated action. This should include attachment of bid tabulation, or ordinance or resolution if appropriate. What are the benefits to the City of this action? What are the citizen concerns?

The City of El Paso collects property taxes for 31 taxing jurisdictions. This agreement would add another jurisdiction to the consolidated tax collections program administered by the City of El Paso. PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION:Has the Council previously considered this item or a closely related one?

City Tax Assessor Collector DATE: September 13, 2011 SUBJECT: Back Up Memo For Items 3R, 3S, & 3T On City Council Agenda of 9/13/2011 These are contracts, inter local agreements, between the City of El Paso and three new taxing jurisdictions which will allow the City to collect taxes for them. Their approval means that the city will have 34 jurisdictions in the consolidated collection system. The beauty of consolidation is that no additional monies are needed to perform this work.
