    • Accomplishments• We participated in the ‘Race for The Torch’ Special Olympics. Officers

Roddenberry and Crispell ran the seven miles of the run, and carried the torch approximately 1 ½ miles. Next year, one portion of the run will be scheduled for Fairfield Bay. We are the only Law Enforcement agency in Van Buren County that participates.

    • The storage building is in place at the DPS building. Arrangements are being made to put power for lights inside the building.

    • We have been investigating an issue that we have had problems with on DWI and Public Intox. With the help of the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Department and a State Agency, I believe we have made progress.

Numbers: Since January 1 DWI- 7 Public Intox -8 2016 Numbers on same offenses DWI- 6 Public Intox -7

  • Plans

We will have our storage unit cleared this month. That will allow us to stop paying for that expense. The new storage building bought by a grant is working out nicely. We are still doing our inventory. This is taking some time, but have made good

progress. We are planning a class for parents for later this summer on social media

safety for children. We are looking at mid-August for that class. We have started collecting school supplies to fill book- bags for some of the

younger kids in our community. These will be given to those who cannot afford some of the school supplies. The idea is to get these kids ready for school and make it fun for the kids. It also gives the Police another chance to interact with the community we serve. One of the local churches has also done this in the past, and we will team up with them and help.
