What to expect from usWe offer a four-year full-time study program with apioneering, distinctive artistic shape. Theinternational orientated study leads to aninternationally recognized academic bachelordiploma of professional education as Circusperformer and has a highly qualified team and aclear misson. We also offer exceptional trainingfacilities.
What do we expect from youWe expect you to have sufficient talent andmotivation for the profession of circus performer.We encourage our students to spend part of theirstudy at a school abroad, deepening and wideningtheir education or by specializing in a particularprofessional profile. At the same time, the academywishes to attract foreign students from Europeanand overseas countries. This may concern eitherfull-time study or shorter periods (as part ofexchange programs). English being the officialteaching language should facilitate this possibility.For all English taught courses a minimum Englishlanguage proficiency is required.
Programme in briefFascinated by contemporary circus andperformance art? Study at Fontys Academy ofCircus and Performance Art (ACAPA) in Tilburg(the Netherlands)! The four-year bachelor Circusand Performance Art educates young people withsufficient talent and motivation for the profession ofcircus performer. A contemporary circus performerwill be working in the field of circus, a largeprofessional field that has evolved considerably,and that nowadays embraces various structures:circus, variety shows, street performances,site-specific work, circus theatre, visual theatre,amusement parks, events, and more.
Content of the programmeThe innovative study programme combines theacquisition of technical competences on high levelwith its implementation in an individual andcollective creational process. You are encouragedto develop your personal artistic profile both ascreator and performer in circus art. The academicconstituent of the study encourages intensereflection on arts and the situation of the artistwithin culture and society and has several aims.

Admission requirements
As a prospective Bachelor's student youmust have a diploma of higher secondaryeducation that is equivalent to Dutchstandards***. If you have a differenteducation and are over 21, you can take atest to prove capability of studying at ahigher professional education level.

FHK provides higher professionaleducation on bachelor’s andmaster’s degree level in the fieldof art education and performingarts. Our aim is to train ourstudents to be skilled,self-confident and enterprisingprofessionals. All courses aregathered in a beautiful new andhistoric building in the center ofTilburg. In addition ACaPA hasexceptional training facilities.
This study is officiallyregistered as bachelorCircus and PerformanceArt.
