OBJECTIVES:Describe the basic functions of

the heart and circulatory system

Identify the parts and function that make up the cardiovascular system

Identify the effects of various activities (sitting down, standing and jogging) on pulse rate

Page 3: CIRCULATORY SYSTEM. OBJECTIVES: Describe the basic functions of the heart and circulatory system Identify the parts and function that make up the cardiovascular

Trace and explain correctly the flow of blood in the Pulmonary and Systemic Circulation with the use of the Triangular Heart

Identify concrete personal actions that can promote the health of the heart and the circulatory system through the Exercise Pyramid

“THE MEAT PROCESS”

Page 5: CIRCULATORY SYSTEM. OBJECTIVES: Describe the basic functions of the heart and circulatory system Identify the parts and function that make up the cardiovascular

INSTRUCTIONS:1. Each group will be given an Activity Worksheet.

2. The Worksheets contains pictures that represents the process where pigs are converted to edible meat that reaches our household.

Page 6: CIRCULATORY SYSTEM. OBJECTIVES: Describe the basic functions of the heart and circulatory system Identify the parts and function that make up the cardiovascular

3. Your task is to TRACE the process or the “flow” how pigs are turned into meat using arrows.

4. ANSWER the Guide Questions during the course of the Activity.

5. You are given 5 MINUTES to finish and wrap your worksheets.

6. Groups that are too noisy will demerit points.

7. You can START now!

GUIDE QUESTIONS:

1. What are the MAIN Functions of the Circulatory System?

2. What are the Four Chambers of the Heart?

3. What is Systemic Circulation?

4. What is Pulmonary Circulation?

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE CITY HALL IN THE PROCESS?

The CITY HALL regulates the flow of the meat. It assures the quality

of meat in markets, thereby assuring that only quality meat

are sold to households

Page 12: CIRCULATORY SYSTEM. OBJECTIVES: Describe the basic functions of the heart and circulatory system Identify the parts and function that make up the cardiovascular

WHAT IS THE CITY HALL IN THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM?

Organ responsible for regulating and pumping the blood to the different parts of the body.

HOW WILL THE PIGS OR MEAT BE TRANSPORTED? WHAT WILL BE USED TO TRANSPORT?

IN THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM, BLOOD VESSELS SERVES AS ROADS

Blood Vessels – are the means to transport blood throughout the body.

Arteries, Veins and Capillaries

Page 15: CIRCULATORY SYSTEM. OBJECTIVES: Describe the basic functions of the heart and circulatory system Identify the parts and function that make up the cardiovascular

CAPILLARIES- enable the

exchange of water and chemicals between the blood and the tissues

THE CARS, JEEPNEYS AND TRUCKS SERVES AS BLOOD IN THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

Red Blood Cells (RBC/erythrocytes)

(Jeepn and Cars)

Platelets (Thrombocytes)

(Ambulance and Fire Trucks)

Page 17: CIRCULATORY SYSTEM. OBJECTIVES: Describe the basic functions of the heart and circulatory system Identify the parts and function that make up the cardiovascular

IS THERE A POSSIBILITY THAT THE PIGS BE TRANSPORTED DIRECTLY TO THE HOUSEHOLD?

White Blood Cells (WBC) (Leukocytes)

(Police and Military)

Page 18: CIRCULATORY SYSTEM. OBJECTIVES: Describe the basic functions of the heart and circulatory system Identify the parts and function that make up the cardiovascular

THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM IS COMPOSED OF:

Heart: Right and Left Atria

and Right and Left Ventricle

Blood Vessels: Arteries, Veins and

Capillaries

Blood: RBC, WBC, Platelets, Plasma

SYSTEMIC AND PULMONARY CIRCULATION

SYSTEMIC CIRCULATIONSYSTEM = BODY SYSTEMS

PULMONARY CIRCULATIONPULMONARY = LUNGS

Page 23: CIRCULATORY SYSTEM. OBJECTIVES: Describe the basic functions of the heart and circulatory system Identify the parts and function that make up the cardiovascular

FUNCTIONS OF THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM?

RESPIRATION – Carries Oxygen to the different parts of the body and removes Carbon Dioxide from them. (Lungs)

NUTRITION – Carries food substances to the different parts of the body. (Intestines)

EXCRETION – Removal of wastes substances in the body (Kidney)

PROTECTION – Protection from viruses, bacteria and other harmful invaders. (WBC)

ANY QUESTIONS?

(3 QUESTIONS WILL BE ENTERTAINED)

ASSIGNMENT“Triangular Heart”

Instructions:Make three copies of the template of the

Heart ModelReview the parts of the heart: atria,

ventricles, pulmonary artery, and atrium. For the First template, color both atria.

Use blue for the right atrium and red for the left atrium.

Page 26: CIRCULATORY SYSTEM. OBJECTIVES: Describe the basic functions of the heart and circulatory system Identify the parts and function that make up the cardiovascular

Color both ventricles in the second template using the same color pattern.

For the third drawing, color the pulmonary artery blue and the aorta red.

Cut out each drawing then paste them in one side of a folder. Paste each folder side by side according to their order.

Submit on WEDNESDAY and be ready for Oral Recitation
