Another TeamTalk has beenproduced, the second one inthis new format. I hope youliked the last one. We havehad lots of positive feedbackabout it so I can only hopethat everyone feels thesame about this edition.

As always we would love to hearyour feedback and commentson the TeamTalk or anythingelse we produce or do.

At MK CIL we have been doingall sorts of exciting things justrecently. We started with ourAGM which I believe was thebest attended for a long time.

We at MK CIL know thatattending an AGM cansometimes be a little boring sothis year we tried to ‘spice it up’a little. We asked several peoplewho have used our services to

talk about how being disabled,has affected their lives, and howtheir interaction with MK CIL hashad an impact on them. I believehad an impact on them. I believe everyone in the audienceeveryone in the audience was inspired by thewas inspired by the stories, I know Istories, I know I certainly was.certainly was.

We have also started ourfundraising programme andheld our first quiz night againa wonderful success with 50+people attending. We have ourown quiz master Mathew whoseems to know everything abouteverything and writes the quizquestions as well as being thequestions as well as being the

lost weight and £4 per week ifwe put on weight. We raised aover £400. This does not includethe money in sponsorship as weare still collecting this. We havebrought a talking microwave forour display area with this money.

Milton KeynesCommunity TransportFrom the 1st September2014 Milton Keynes Councilended their contract withPlus Bus, and all CommunityTransport Services havebeen integrated with MiltonKeynes existing services.

The Milton Keynes CommunityTransport Service offers adoor- to-door transport servicefor disabled, frail and elderlyresidents of Milton Keynes whoare unable to use mainstream

public transport. Residentswith learning disabilities ormental health issues that wouldmake it unsafe for them to useother public transport mayalso qualify for this service.

Currently only passengerswho have an existing regularbooking on the service, asdelivered by Plus Bus, willcontinue to have a regularbooking on Milton KeynesCouncil Community Transport.

Bookings can be made onon a one-off basis (up to 7

days in advance). Theservice is extremely

busy, however,and membersmay need to beflexible regardingtheir traveltimes. Pleasenote that the

service only

Although now retired, I workedin various Canadian Hospitalsas a Blood Bank Administrator,Medical Photographer,and X Ray Technician.

I joined MKCIL in 2008 as aDisability Awareness Trainer,and recently helped foundDisability Action MK, a disabilityrights campaigning group.

I am an elected memberof the Healthwatch MKManagement Board, Delegateto Patients Congress, member

of the Older Persons’ Forum,and also a member of theAutism Partnership andFalls Strategy Boards.

My new husband is alsoa MKCIL member and legamputee, whilst I am alsomobility impaired, but we stilllook forward to many more yearsof serving the wider disabledcommunity, in Milton Keynes.

Welcome to our newmember of staffWe have recently takenon a new member of staff.Debbie Lishman has takenon the role as Book-Keeperon a part time basis afterworking as a volunteer inthe Accounts section of theorganisation. Debbie comeswith a background in financeand distribution working inher previous employment asa Credit Controller. Debbieunfortunately had to give upfull time employment due topoor health but has enjoyedgetting back into the workplaceand delivering a muchneeded function within MKCIL. Debbie is a real asset tothe organisation and spendsmany hours going over thefigures paying invoices, raisinginvoices and supporting ourcharity fundraising activities.Debbie has lived in Bletchley formany years and has two grownup children living and working

in MiltonKeynes.Debbie hasa keen interestin cooking andfriends and family arealways welcome whenshe is busy in the kitchen.

Milton Keynes ClinicalCommissioning Group (CCG)has now received the interimprogress report which outlinesthe evidence gathering andanalysis undertaken duringthe Healthcare Review so far.The progress report - alongwith supporting appendices - isavailable to download atwww.shapingmkhealth.co.uk/progress-report
