Crop Sensor Assembly

Arms have holes at both ends. Make sure the correct end of the arms are mounted to the sensor assembly for your row spacing.

For row spacings 15” and narrower, cut and drill poly arms at the locations marked on the poly arms. Mount the arms with the new holes as described below.

Sensor Assembly

1. Choose your headers row spacing range.

2. Install arms on crop sensor.

• Remove the crop sensor lower shield• Hold the arms and spring as shown • Slide the spring hooks over both arms, then the

arms over the pivot posts of the sensor• Replace the lower shield & tighten nuts

Width Adjustment1. Loosen the jamb nut indicated.

2. Turn arm adjustment screen using a hex (Allen) wrench.

• Adjust arm width to row spacing plus 2 inches (e.g. adjust to 32" for 30" row spacing)

3. Tighten jamb nut.

The poly arm width setting gradually decreases. Reset spacing after the first day of running and continue to check every day for first week & once a week thereafter, or until dimension stabilizes

Safety First

Before working on combine or under header always:

1. Perform all combine and header manufacturer safety precautions for servicing header.

2. Insert stop to prevent movement of header.

3. Turn off combine and remove key from ignition.

4. Set combine parking brake.

5. Disconnect all drive shafts from the header.

Snout Choice

1. Choose the snout to which crop sensor will be mounted.

• For most headers, mount the crop sensor on the snout which is one row to the left of center.

• For folding headers, if you wish to use the preexisting wiring (see Advanced Info), mount the crop sensor two rows to the left of center.• The sensor should be mounted on the snout with the left row guide plug (A), not B or C

Install Crop Sensor

1. Attach the sensor to the mounting bracket as shown.

• Use provided Thread - Locking flange bolts• Do not fully tighten bolts

2. Connect the bracket to the snout.

• Use (3) M10x20 Flange bolts

3. Adjust sensor on bracket.

• Sensor should not touch snout• Sensor should be square and level with snout• Tighten sensor mounting bolts

The sensor should be as far into the snout as possible without causing the arms to rub the bottom of the snout.

4. Screw poly skid plate to snout just behind the metal snout tip at location “A” using:

• 2x 1/4x1 Phillips screws

5. Adjust snout tip so it is level with other snout tips or slightly higher.

Routing Sensor Wiring

Properly routing the wiring is the most critical part of the installation process. Please take time to ensure that you have allowed sufficient slack for motion as well as sufficient clearance from moving header parts or crop flow.

Removing Connector for Tight Access

When routing the wiring, there may be times when you would like to route the wiring through a small hole. You may remove the Weatherpack connector by using the following procedure. This step is NOT always required; it is only shown to aid installation as needed.

1. Release wire retaining clip on each connector. Insert removal tool and pull each wire out of connector.

2. Flare connector terminal tabs using removal tool.

3. Reinstall wires in connector body:

• A - Black or Blue• B - White• C - Green or Pink

4. Latch wire retaining clip.

Routing Wiring1. Connect harness to sensor

• Position sensor connector with latch facing up against poly• Fasten harness connection with small clamp

and screw on each side of connector• See chopping head note in step 2

2. Chopping heads tend to beat the wiring & connector apart.

• Run zip-tie lengthwise around connectors• Tuck connector into central slot as shown above• Install optional shield to protect connection

• Contact Headsight for poly shield shown or fab similar cover

3. Drill 1-1/8 inch hole in position indicated.

4. Route wire as shown and fasten to snout with screws and clamps.

Make sure that the wire is not stretched at any location when the snout is raised or folded.

5. Drill a 1-1/8” hole at back of hood and use a fish tape to continue to route the wire.

6. Clamp and zip tie wire as shown and run to bottom of header.

• If you wish to use existing wiring on folding or narrow row heads, See Advanced Info

7. Route wire along bottom of header to left side of feeder house, run under back of header with hydraulic hoses.

On folding or narrow row heads with pre-existing row guidance wiring (see Advanced Info), if you do NOT use the prexisting header wiring, you may need to remove the OE wires from the 31 pin header plug if installing HT2828 (see Truesight manual for combine, Header Adapter). Use the included Blue Deutsch wire removal tool.

Advanced Info

Pre-wired headers (Folding or Narrow Row Only)Folding and narrow row models may be equipped with pre-existing row guidance wiring to the back of the snouts. These plugs would be in the 1st & 2nd rows to the left of center, (when viewed from behind the head). See “Snout Choice”, arrows A & B.

For certain installations, you may be able to use these connections and prevent routing wiring to the back of the header. The following criteria must all apply.

• The head must be a folding or narrow row head with the wiring as shown • The head must NOT be equipped with Headsight’s Horizon control system• The combine must be from the following list, with crop sensor input

wiring routed thru the OEM combine feederhouse connector. (You must not be using the HT2820 feeder extension on the combine.)

• CIH x230 MY 2013 & up (Common Cab)• CIH x240• CIH x250• New Holland CR x.xx, MY2019 & up

• You must have the technical ability to install a new connection on the HT2808

Connecting to OE wiring1. Install the sensor on the snout with the Left Row Guide plug A (see Snout Choice).

2. Install the HT2808 harness from the sensor to the back of the snout.

3. Cut the HT2808 with enough slack to connect to the OE plug shown above.

4. Install 3 pin Deutsch plug (not provided) on HT2808.

• Strip Cable• Crimp Size 16 Deutsch sockets (not provided) onto wires• Insert wires in plug

• Black or Blue in A• Green or Pink in B• White in C

5. Connect plug to OE connection.

6. After finishing complete installation, verify that CROP 1/Crop Sensor is ~2.5V with the sensor centered (not Crop 2/Aux Crop Sensor).
