“Since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God. And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts, through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. As I pause to pray, do I realize that I have access to God? Do I realize that God is waiting for me? Do I think that I am doing God a favor? It really doesn’t work that way. Because of God’s unfailing love for me, for us, He reaches out or bends down, to share His life, His grace with me. St. Paul teaches us, that God in His generosity has filled us with His grace, in abundance, pouring it on. As I live this third week of Lent His statement to the Samaritan woman, “If you knew the gift of God and who is saying to you ‘Give me a drink’, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.” May we all seek this gift.

La conversazione di Gesù con la Samaritana si svolge sul tema dell’“acqua viva”. Quest’acqua è indispensabile alla vita, e non è sorprendente che, nelle regioni del Medio Oriente dove regna la siccità, essa sia semplicemente il simbolo della vita e, anche, della salvezza dell’uomo in un senso più generale. Questa vita, questa salvezza, si possono ricevere solo aprendosi per accogliere il dono di Dio. È questa la convinzione dell’antico Israele come della giovane comunità cristiana. E l’autore dei Salmi parla così al suo Dio: “È in te la sorgente della vita” (Sal 036,10). Ecco la sua professione di fede: “Come la cerva anela ai corsi d’acqua, così l’anima mia anela a te, o Dio”(Sal 042,2).

La salvezza che Dio porta viene espressa con l’immagine della sorgente che zampilla sotto l’entrata del tempio e diventa un grande fiume che trasforma in giardino il deserto della Giudea e fa del mar Morto un mare pieno di vita (Ez 47,1-12). Gesù vuole offrire a noi uomini questa salvezza e questa vita. Per calmare definitivamente la nostra sete di vita e di salvezza. “Io, sono venuto perché abbiano la vita e l’abbiano in abbondanza” (Gv 10,10).

DON’T PANIC. BE INFORMED Be respectful of

Voluntary precautions for parishioners:

Refrain from physical contact during the Sign of Peace. Offer a nod, wave or a smile instead

Refrain from receiving communion on the tongue

Refrain from holding hands during the Lord’s Prayer

HOLY WATER FONTS All Holy water fonts were emptied and cleaned. They will remain empty until after Easter for sanitary precautions.

Can you suggest a meaningful sacrifice for Lent?

The point of Lent is not to greet Easter a few pounds lighter but to be

transformed. Try something new this Lent: Make extra time for him each day. Read the Bible, attend daily Mass, pray a Rosary, or visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Avoid the mirror. Take the focus off your appearance or looks. Refuse to compare yourself to others or accept others’ view of you. Remember, your worth isn’t in how others see you, but in God’s infinite, unchanging love for you. Give up one thing at every meal. Offer up a little something every time you eat – forego sugar in coffee, honey on cereal - to keep the idea, “it’s Lent,” in the forefront. Offer the heroic minute. St. Josemaría Escrivá suggested jumping out of bed – no snooze button- as soon as the alarm goes off, “without granting a single minute to laziness. If, with the help of God, you conquer yourself in that moment, you’ll have accomplished a great deal for the rest of the day.

“Justificados, entonces, por la fe, estamos en paz con Dios, por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Por él hemos alcanzado, mediante la fe, la gracia en la que estamos afianzados, y por él nos gloriamos en la esperanza de la gloria de Dios. Y la esperanza no quedará defraudada, porque el amor de Dios ha sido

derramado en nuestros corazones por el Espíritu Santo, que nos ha sido dado.” Cuando me detengo a orar, ¿me doy cuenta de que tengo acceso a Dios? ¿Me doy cuenta de que Dios está esperándome? ¿Pienso que le estoy haciendo un favor a Dios? En realidad esto no funciona así. Debido al infalible amor de Dios por mí, por nosotros, El se acerca, se agacha, para compartir conmigo Su vida y Su gracia. San Pablo nos enseña que Dios en su generosidad nos ha llenado de Su gracia, en abundancia, vertiéndola constantemente. Mientras vivo esta tercera semana de cuaresma, Su declaración a la mujer samaritana: ‘Si conocieras el don de Dios y quién es el que te dice: ‘Dame de beber’, tú misma se lo hubieras pedido, y él te habría dado agua viva’’. Ojalá busquemos todos este don.

Abril 3 El Vía Crucis se llevará acabo todos los Viernes de Cuaresma a las 7pm en Ingles y 8pm en Español.

Ha sido una tradición muy antigua de nuestra fe que sigamos los pasos de Cristo durante el

tiempo de la Cuaresma. Hagamos un esfuerzo para sufrir, morir y resucitar con Cristo durante

el tiempo penitencial de cuaresma.
