But, of course, every country has its own traditional food at Christmas... A Buche de Noël : not a log* to go on the fire, but a kind of cake made with eggs, almonds and cream is popular in France at Christmas. The cake is rolled and covered in chocolate so it looks like a log - but a very sweet one! Halászlé  is a spicy traditional Christmas Eve dish* in Hungary. Fish (usually carp), potatoes, onions, and tomato, plus green peppers (it is Hungary, after all) are the ingredients. The soup is often served with* homemade noodles. Risgrynspudding : A favourite Swedish Christmas dessert is this filling rice pudding, made with milk, rice, cinnamon - and an almond*. By tradition, whoever gets the almond will get married in the next year. Clear beetroot soup - Barszcz  - is the most traditional Christmas dish in Poland. This tasty red soup is often served with ‘ears’ - small ravioli stuffed* with mushrooms or cabbage. These very simple but delicious Scottish biscuits are made from only three ingredients*: flour, brown sugar and butter. Easy to make and very tasty. This is a very rich German Christmas cake made with flour, sugar, butter, eggs and a lot of dried fruit, especially raisins*. This is perhaps the most well-known of all Christmas foods.
