A Gradual Return To Normal Sunday Mornings I like the way Pastor Doug Wilson puts this; this is how I view the “mask or no mask” decision many churches are wrestling with as they reopen. Pastor Ken “At Christ Church, we welcome anybody, masked or unmasked. No one is turned away over this issue. We have repeatedly instructed our people not to give the stink eye to anybody. Don’t assume that a mask-wearer is a coward, and don’t assume that a non-mask-wearer is a devil-may-care stunt parishioner.” So CCC is not trying to bind the conscience of anyone. Practice charitable personal responsibility.

Summer Worship Schedule We congregate for worship in the air -conditioned Christian Arts Auditorium, with overflow seating in the Fellowship Hall at 8:00 and 10:30. Christian education for all ages from 9:15-10:15. Nursery is available during the Christian education hour and second worship service. We’ll live stream the 10:30 service and FM broadcast it to the auditorium parking lot. Tune to FM 91.7.

Willing To Serve On The Nominating Committee CCC annually elects elders and standing committee members at its February meeting. Responsible for presenting candidates is a nominating committee consisting of one elder, one deacon, one person appointed by the senior pastor, and two elected by the congregation (usually at the midyear meeting in August). These three members of our church have agreed to have their names considered for those two slots: Azucena Ayala Moreno, Sue Lehman, and Heather Patenaude. Members will select two of them by written ballot Sunday morning August 30.

Fish Eyes It’s a routine morning

in a small fishing town. We meet two brothers - fishermen who had a poor catch last night. They have no idea their lives are about to change with regard to their fishing and the rest of their lives.

The story of Jesus and the disciples has fascinated us for two thousand years. Fish Eyes is another look at how this God-man affected the world, and specifically, two very human men along the way - Peter and Andrew.

It's humorous, identifiable, simple, moving...and true.

MEN’S MINISTRY

Volunteers Needed To Help Our School Age Children We have an opportunity for CCC to help parents and children navigate an unusually challenging start to school this Fall. Our local school districts could use the assistance of churches in providing supervised venues with internet access for children enrolled in their E-Learning programs. Would you consider volunteering in this potential program? If so, join us for an informational / brainstorming meeting on Wednesday September 2 at 10:00am in the Fellowship Hall. We will discuss the needs in our community and church family and decide a direction for how our church can best provide assistance. A key factor will be the volunteers available to assist in this program. Thanks for prayerfully considering this opportunity. If you have questions please contact Pastor Mike

Back to School Time of Prayer Event Tuesday, September 1, 6:15pm in the Fellowship Hall. This is for everybody - teachers, parents, children. Prayer, encouragement, refreshments and time together. We will commit our school year to God, who tells us to bring all our burdens to Him. We will pray for strength, endurance, peace and guidance. Bring your

children. Contact Terri Allen for more information.

Convocation 2020 The dates for this year ’s missions gathering are September 27- October 4. Things will be a little different this year. Stay tuned for more information.

GriefShare is meeting Mondays, 7-9 pm, in the Parlor. When a loved one dies, grieving that loss can take a long time, but you are not alone. GriefShare is a support group that provides encouragement and help as you go through the recovery process. There is no cost.

It Doesn’t Hurt To Ask According to a r ecent survey, eighty-two percent of Americans who do not go to church, say they would go “if invited by a friend.” Some even suggest that they are hoping someone asks them. Sadly, according to a different survey, only two percent of church-attenders invite anyone to church during the course of any given year.

Promised Land Range will be open Mondays at 4:00pm. Contact Pastor Mike for more details.

Men’s Breakfast – Join us on Saturday, September 12 at 8am in the Fellowship Hall. Come enjoy great food, fellowship, and teaching from God’s Word. Feel free to invite a friend. No RSVP necessary. To learn more email Pastor Drew ([email protected]) or call the church office.

Hang In There! “The author of Hebrews faces a disheartened congregation. They are tired: tired of the hassles of church routine, tired of the struggle, tired of serving, tired of being Christians. The

grit of reality wears down faith. For these people, the so-called joyful Christian life has been little except turmoil and conflict; the alleged ‘house of God’ looks and feels more like a house of pain.” (Thomas G. Long, Hebrews, 54) The CCC family will dig into Hebrews starting September 6.

Help the Garridos in Batam Ver and Melody Garrido started up their English Club at Batam International University on August 21. Like many universities around the world all their instruction will be done online, including the English Club program. What this means is that anyone anywhere can join in. The Garridos are seeking our help in providing native English speakers for the English club program. We are seeking people from CCC to participate in the English Club in Batam via the internet. The Club meets on Fridays at 9pm. A sign-up sheet is in the Lobby. For more information contact Mike McDowell.

I Stand In Awe Verse 1

You are beautiful beyond description Too marvelous for words Too wonderful for comprehension Like nothing ever seen or heard Who can grasp Your infinite wisdom Who can fathom the depth of Your love You are beautiful beyond description Majesty enthroned above

And I stand I stand in awe of You I stand I stand in awe of You Holy God to whom all praise is due I stand in awe of You
