  • About chrismayoh.comThe newly updated chrismayoh.com is the home of the consultancy services of Chris Mayoh, award-winning

    educational technologist, international keynote speaker and independent consultant. Alongside a number of

    strategic partners Chris works with schools, colleges and other organisations to inspire students, teachers and

    senior leaders to embrace new technologies to revolutionise learning opportunities in and out of the classroom.

    As well as providing expert consultancy, curriculum and technical support to schools in the UK and internationally,

    Chris also works part time as Computing Leader at Fagley Primary School, Bradford. This allows Chris to ensure

    the support he provides to other schools is based upon sound evidence of success in a current education setting;

    he is not preaching theories, but spreading excellent practice.

    Chris has previously been a Head of ICT and Student Leadership Coordinator at a large international school in

    Russia, a Curriculum Innovation consultant for Bradford Local Authority, an ICT Coordinator and E-safety Leader

    at primary, secondary and special schools and both a primary and secondary school governor.

    Digital Strategy Visits

    A highly flexible and totally bespoke Digital Strategy Visit is a great way to ensure your school is maximising its

    use of new technologies for learning. A Digital Strategy Visit could comprise:

    Meetings with Senior Leaders, Curriculum Coordinators and Governors to explore ways of successfully

    embedding the use of technology across school, avoiding unnecessary expenditure and ensuring a seamless

    execution of the school's Digital Strategy

    Coaching sessions with Computing Leaders, other Curriculum Coordinators and teachers to support with the

    integration of technology in the classroom and building capacity for sustained improvement, and could involve

    joint lesson observations and feedback sessions, strategic planning or curriculum planning

    Mobile device project planning and implementation to ensure your school can successfully integrate new and

    emerging mobile technologies across the curriculum, from practical management to ideas for day-to-day

    Whole School INSET

    All Whole School INSET is totally bespoke and agreed with the school in advance of delivery to ensure maximum

    impact. Whole School INSET could comprise:

    Practical training on how to deliver the Computing Curriculum in an engaging way

    Training sessions about how to use technology as a cross-curricular tool for learning

    Workshops to help members of teaching and support staff to understand key e-safety issues such as Digital

    Professionalism, Cyberbullying and Online Grooming in the world today

  • E-safety Audits

    The issue of e-safety has long been a challenging one for schools and other organisations to tackle, particularlyconsidering that technology develops so rapidly and that children and young people have near universal access

    to internet enabled devices.

    E-safety Audits provide a great, cost-effective way to ensure primary schools, secondary schools and collegesare doing all they can to protect pupils and members of staff from the risks associated with new technologies,

    along with preparing for inspections by Ofsted, HMI or ISI.

    E-safety Audits last one full day, take place in school and are conducted by an Auditor who has received aNaace Impact Award for his work in the field of e-safety. "Chris has been formally recognised for revolutionisingopportunities for independent learning and for developing rigorous processes for e-safety training." Naace, 2013.

    E-safety Audits include:

    - A whole school policy and practice review- An evaluation of the schools e-safety curriculum

    - Group interviews with members of teaching, support and administrative staff- One to one and group interviews with pupils

    - A review of e-safety and cyberbullying monitoring and reporting procedures- An evaluation of the impact of staff training

    What is the Digital Leaders Programme?

    The Digital Leaders Programme is a world renowned pupil leadership initiative that has a proven impact on pupilsand teachers. Digital Leaders are pupils who are given responsibility for helping adults to improve and embed theuse of technology for learning throughout schools. Through a comprehensive training programme Digital Leaders

    quickly become invaluable members of any school community.

    What do Digital Leaders do?

    - Meet regularly to learn new skills and explore different hardware and software- Support other pupils to use technology in class

    - Teach members of staff how to use new technologies effectively in the classroom- Run assemblies, workshops and drop in sessions to raise the profile of technology across school

    - Lead sessions for other pupils on important issues such as e-safety- Attend events with other technology leaders to share their ideas and to learn from others

    for Primary Schools

    The Digital Leaders Programme for Primary Schools offers teachers and pupils a great degree of support,

    as schools participate as part of a small, local cluster.

    Teachers and pupils from the schools within each cluster attend events jointly, allowing many opportunities

    for sharing ideas and experiences, presenting information to a real audience and collaborating with people

    in the real world.

    The Digital Leaders Programme for Secondary Schools allows a great degree of flexible support for both

    teachers and students, with the Programme being specifically tailored to the needs of the individual school.

    The focus of the Digital Leaders Programme is entirely at the discretion of the school, as all training and

    support is bespoke, but could include:

    - Supporting the integration of mobile devices (e.g. iPads) across the curriculum;

    - Developing the use of the VLE, school website or blogging platforms;

    - Supporting the transition to the new Computing curriculum.

    Teachers can assign writing challenges or simply allow

    children to write freely across a wide range of text types, all

    of which are easy to assess against English National

  • 100 Word Challenge

    100 Word Challenge is a FREE creative writing challenge for

    children, which harnesses the power of the Night Zookeeper

    writing platform.

    Each week, retired Headteacher Julia Skinner posts an

    interesting writing prompt to ignite children's curiosity and to

    inspire them to write creative responses. The prompt could be

    an image, a sentence or just a few words.

    Children are challenged to submit their written responses in

    just 100 words.

    A group of adults, known as Team 100WC, provide

    constructive feedback on their writing each week, so there is

    ongoing motivation for them to write for their truly global

    audience.

    and day-to-day running, from a course tutor who has been responsible for introducing over 85 schools to student

    Digital Leadership in Key Stages 1 to 5.

  • Media LiteracyImproving reading and writing through innovative use of

    film in the primary classroom

    This full day CPD event will support senior leaders, English/Literacy Coordinators and primary school class

    teachers to improve the reading and writing skills of their pupils by harnessing the power of using film in the

    classroom.

    Delegates will learn how to best use visual texts to help children to master complex skills such as inference and

    deduction to support their understanding of key places, characters and events, by analysing still and moving

    images, sound and through exploration of professional film techniques.

    The course will provide many hands on opportunities for delegates to engage with sample materials and to take

    part in activities to support the teaching of reading and writing, including a specific focus on spelling,

    punctuation, grammar and improving childrens vocabulary.
