Asia-Pacific Chief Legal Officer Council to LaunchThe benefits of Conference Board Council membership will shortly be available to general counsels and chief legal officers in the Asia-Pacific region. The new group will be entitled the Asia-Pacific Chief Legal Officers Council and is slated for a kickoff meeting on April 23-24inHongKong.ThemissionofthisnewCouncilistoprovideasettinginwhichforemostcorporateGeneralCounselsfromleadingcorporationsareabletodiscussissuesofprofessionalinterest.Programsincludeinternalpanelsanddistinguishedspeakersfromthepublicandprivatesectors.TheCouncilwillprovideanetworkforexecutiveswithleadresponsibilityforcorporatelawtoidentifyemergingissuesandbestpracticesgloballyand regionally. Asia-Pacific Human Resources CouncilTheNovember2007meetingwashostedbyHenkelinShanghai.Itstwinthemeswere“ChinaInsights,”particularlyChinalaborlawandpractices,and“TalentandProfessionalDevelopment.” Andreas Lauffs, principal, Baker & McKenzie, facilitated the first session on China labor law.
