Dear Pupils, Parents & Carers, We hope you are all keeping well and that you and your families are remaining healthy. It has been a challenging month since we closed the school to our Chilmington Community. It has been a big learning curve for everyone in these unprecedented times, but I have to say that as a community we have pulled together to do an amazing job. We have heard of many lovely stories of times when people have supported others. The staff and I miss you all but we really enjoy receiving your emails and photographs! Stay safe! The children of the Key Workers, that have been attending school, have been so brave and resilient when saying goodbye to their parents. We will share with you some of the

lovely things they have been doing. We would also like to take this time to say that it is a pleasure to support these families as they continue their job on the front line. We send a HUGE thank you to all our families who are key workers. You are doing a truly amazing job helping to save lives and helping to keep the country going. We applaud you all. The children have been learning from our wonderful home learning lessons and in the afternoon did some shape art which you see below. You could try this at home – all you need is tape and chalk!

Thank you Matthew who shared his beautiful Easter Basket which he made from paper mache.

Have you seen the video on Weduc! Remember to start baking as on Weduc! Remember to start baking as “The Great Stour

Bake off” is here! Just choose your ingredients, follow your recipe and BAKE! Send in your photos to [email protected]

Hi, to all the fabulous Bakers & Biscuit makers at Chilmington Green Primary School. What busy people you have been in what must be a very unusual and demanding time for you all. The bakes all look amazing, highly original and I have come to learn that the word ‘improvisation’ has had much to do all with them. Tasting would have been a great pleasure, I’m sure but I have been asked to make an extremely difficult choice of 3rd, 2nd and 1st place. Of course you’re all winners in your own kitchens and most important thing is to keep COOKING.

So without further ado, in 3rd Place an impressive single layer cake which looks like an apple cake from the photo being held by a very proud Mrs Newman. In 2nd place, a masterfully scripted chocolate two-layer cake with the caption “stay safe” cleverly dripping on the very edge of the top layer – well done Mrs Bounds! Sadly, there can only be one winner, in 1st place is Miss Hughes’s Chilmington Hare Rice Krispie assembled together with the lovely cottage garden effect.

So congratulations to you all! My final request is that when this lockdown allows us to mingle a little more freely and you have another “Bake off”. I would love to come and taste and judge all entries, if stomach has room. Best wishes to you all & Stay Safe!

Reading Challenge

We’ve seen so many of you logging into Bug Club and racking up that reading mileage! Your

child’s login details are in the front of their reading record books.

Next week we’ll be publishing the names of the top 3 readers from each class, so get

reading!

The children in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each class will receive a certificate when we are all

back into school for their reading mileage!

75th Anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE 75)

On Friday 8th May as a school we were going to Great Chart Church to be part of the

Ashford Schools Remembrance Service to remember, celebrate and honour brave men and

women of World War 2 and our Armed Forces community. As a result of the COVID-19

pandemic and lockdown all these events have been cancelled. A way we can celebrate and

show our respect is to have a picnic or tea party in our own gardens with the people we live

with!

Remember to make your flags and share your photographs with us at

[email protected]

From all of the staff at Chilmington Green, stay safe and seen you all soon!
