If you child needs supervision prior to 8.35am please see the school for information regarding Before and After school care. (OOSH) It is also very important that all children know exactly how they are getting home each afternoon i.e. walk, or collected and if picked up by whom. Too many times students are left back at school because their usual afternoon routine has changed and they were not aware it had. Another reminder that both the Proctor Parade and Wellington Road carparks are for staff use only. No parent should enter those carparks for any reason unless they have permission from the school. Beyond the School Gate We are lucky to be situated in such a wonderful community. As Principal I receive many compliments from our neighbours in relation to our students, and how they interact. However, it goes both ways and as such, our whole school community needs to ensure that they do the right thing by our neighbours. This includes things such as only parking legally and not across driveways or access points, not dropping rubbish outside our neighbours’ homes and being respectful to them and their property. That way the school will continue to be supported by the whole community.

CHESTER HILL PUBLIC SCHOOL Quality education in a caring learning environment

Tuesday 8 May 2018 Issue 6 Term 2 Week 2

Dear parents and students,

Welcome back to term two and I hope all families

had a fun and relaxing holiday. Term two will again

be full of class, stage and whole school activities

for all the children. Please be sure to read our

newsletter each fortnight or visit our website or

Facebook page to keep up to date with what is

happening each week at Chester Hill Public

School.

Annual School Report

Our 2017 Annual School Report and our School

Improvement Plan 2018 - 2020 are now available

for you to read on our school website. If you are

unable to access our website, please contact the

office and a copy of both will be forwarded to you

through your child’s teacher.

If you have any questions regarding the ASR or the

School Improvement Plan they will be answered at

our next P&C meeting. If you are unavailable at

that time and have some questions relating to

either document please make an appointment to

see me through the school office.

New Canteen Menu

I would like to congratulate and thank the

hardworking members of our P&C who have spent

many hours re doing our canteen menu to ensure it

complies with the new NSW Healthy Canteen

Strategy. This new policy is a mandatory

document and its aim is to tackle the huge issue of

childhood obesity.

A copy of our new menu, which starts this week,

was sent out to all families last week. I have

included another copy in this newsletter.

On behalf of our canteen, I would like to highlight

the need for more volunteers to support this new

menu. One or two hours a week volunteering in the

canteen would make such a difference. Please see

our wonderful canteen supervisor Voula if you can

help.

Safety & Supervision

We remind all families that the school’s hours are

9:00am-3:00pm each day.

Supervision of students commences at 8:35am

each morning when the first teachers are on duty.

We request that children not arrive at school

before this time, as they will be unsupervised. If

you child needs supervision prior to 8.35am please

see the school for information regarding Before and

After school care. (OOSH)

It is also very important that all children know

exactly how they are getting home each afternoon

i.e. walk, or collected and if picked up by whom.

Too many times students are left back at school

because their usual afternoon routine has changed

and they were not aware it had.

Another reminder that both the Proctor Parade and

Wellington Road carparks are for staff use only.

No parent should enter those carparks for any

reason unless they have permission from the

school.

Beyond the School Gate

We are lucky to be situated in such a wonderful

community. As Principal I receive many

compliments from our neighbours in relation to our

students, and how they interact. However, it goes

both ways and as such, our whole school

community needs to ensure that they do the right

thing by our neighbours. This includes things such

as only parking legally and not across driveways or

access points, not dropping rubbish outside our

neighbours’ homes and being respectful to them

and their property. That way the school will

continue to be supported by the whole community.

New Bus Zones

Please be aware of the changed parking conditions

that occurred over the school holidays on Proctor

Parade. The new bus zones have been relocated

and are now just before the school crossing on

both sides of the street. Our school was not

informed about this change and only found out this

week. Rangers will be out and about over the next

three weeks so please take care and only park

legally.
