New Delhi, July 15: A section of the Board of Control for Cricket in India is happy and feels that the Supreme Court?s move to issue notices to former BCCI president N Srinivasan and Niranjan Shah for at- tending the Special General Meeting of the board despite disqualification is a step that will help the board move in the right direction. According to a BCCI official the news is a welcome sign as the board needs to move forward and work to- wards rebuilding the tarnished image of the BCCI. The notice could finally see disqualified members staying away from the functioning of the board and the BCCI making progress in implementing the reforms of the Lodha panel as per the direction of the SC in July 2016. ‘The BCCI needs to get back to working in unison and that is not possible till certain disquali- fied members stay away from interfer- ing in the working of the board. The BCCI is trying its best to get the ball rolling, but every time some members try to move things forward, a few members ensure that the process is stalled. Hopefully, this will see the end to this style of functioning.’ The SC issued notices after the Committee of Administrators (CoA) in a scathing status report, described the duo of Srinivasan and Shah as disqualified office bearers with vested interest, who are trying to stall imple- mentation of Lodha reforms. And the basic reason was the way in which the state bodies failed to partially implement the panel?s reforms even after promising the same to the COA on 25 June, a day before the SGM.
