CHEMCLAVE, an annual technical symposium is organized by chemical engneeirng

department, SCET every year. This year CHEMCLAVE 2018 was organized by chemical

engneeirng department, SCET under the banner of KSHITIJ during 14th September ,2018 to

15th September 2018. The event was a grand success, wherein a total of 650 partcipants took

part from SCET (from various departments). The techfest had 5 competitions of which all

were team/individual events.

The Inaugural Function was held at the TIFAC Core Seminar Hall. Prof. Vaishali Umrigar,

HOD, Chemical Department started the inaugural function by giving a welcome speech and

motivated students to participate in the events. The student co ordinator and co coordinators

then introduced the various events.

After the function, Day 1 of techfest began. On the first day of the fun fiesta, all the screening

rounds of various events were done and the competition “Avishkar” (Model Presentation)

was held. All the events were managed amiably and brilliantly. The results of the screening

rounds were released and reached the selected participants on time so that they managed to

arrive when expected for the events to begin according to schedule.

The events included:

1. AVISHKAR: It was a model (working/non working) presentation event. This event

set the stage for the participants to showcase their skills wherein they applied their

theoretical know-how to practical implementations and present their ideas before the

jury. There could be maximum four participants in a team. Topics were related

chemical engineering or environment.

2. ABHIVYAKTI: This competition was theoretical paper presentation event. It was an

event wherein students either formed a team of maximum four participants or

individually presented their scientific papers before a jury of experts. We had external

juries in this event (one from industry, one from academics and one internal). The

topics were from the field of chemical engineering for BE II, III & IV and chemistry

& environment for BE I.

3. PUMP IT UP: This event comprised of three rounds. The first round was quiz related

to fluid mechanics, general knowledge, and aptitude. Second round was relay race

w.r.t. equipments in various chemical engineering laboratories. In the third round,

participants were supposed to create a mini rocket with plastic bottles and various

chemicals and were supposed to give it a thrust with the help of a pump in the air.

4. BLINDBLUFF: This was a multiple round event. There were 2 rounds, in the first

round the teams saw a crime scene & questions were asked regarding the crime scene.

In the second round was “Chase the treasure” wheein the teams were assigned some

tasks. At the end of each round, lowest performing teams were eliminated.

5. MINUTE MANIA: It was free minded event which required quick decision making

and requiement of coordination with the partner.

Valedictory

The Valedictory Function was held on Saturday, 15th September at the project lab of chemical

department. This function marked the end of CHEMCLAVE - 2018. All the winners,

marketing team, organizing team, photography team and IR Desk team were awarded with

certificates.
