Key Points to UnderstandPersonal impact of change

• The more the severe the change in people’s eyes, the more likely a high proportion of them will be psychologically impacted, not unlike if they suffered a major trauma.

Key Points to Understand How groups of people will transition

Letting Go• Letting go of the old ways. The failure to identify

and get ready for endings and losses is the most significant difficulty for people in transition. Some people will have difficulty letting go.

The Neutral Zone• Going through an in-between time when the old

is gone but the new isn’t fully operational and the old way of doing things is gone but the new way doesn’t feel comfortable yet.

The New Beginning• Coming out of the transition, making a new

beginning. When people develop the new identity, experience the new energy and discover the new sense of purpose that make the change begin to work.
