Rounds
• Individual Computation Round– Crossnumber Puzzle– Find that number– Word Problems
• Logic Puzzle
• Team Puzzle
• Lightning Round
Computation Round Rules
• No calculators
• Write answers neatly
• Put labels on answers (word problems)
• Do not share answers
• No talking while tests are being taken
• Room Supervisor may read questions if asked, but cannot define words.
Logic Puzzle Rules
• Mark correct answers with an “O”
• Mark incorrect answers with an “X”
• Only correct answers will be scored.
Individual Round Scoring
• Crossnumber Puzzle worth 1 point for each correct answer.
• Find that number Puzzles worth 1 point each correct answer.
• Word Problems worth 3 points each. No partial credit given. Answers need labels.
• Logic Puzzle: 1 point for each correct answer.
Team Round
• Work together on the same puzzle.
• Each puzzle earns the team 10 points or 0 points.
Lightning Round
• The top 10 students in 4th and 5th grade combined will compete in the lightning round.
• Students will answer questions until a champion has been named.
• More directions to follow after lunch.
Team Results
• The individual and team scores will be added together for each school and grade level.
Lightning Round
• Students will be seated according to their overall individual score. • Ties will be broken by their score on the logic puzzle, if still tied, find that
number. A coin flip will break any remaining ties.• Students will answer math questions.• The 10th place student will face the 9th place student. The winner advances
to compete against the 8th place student etc.• The first to buzz in will get to answer. You must answer within 5 seconds.• If you are correct you score 1 point.• If the student is incorrect, the other student may answer. You will have 15
seconds to answer.• The first student to have two correct answers will move to the next
competitor.• We will proceed in this manner until the final two students are left. They
will compete as stated above for 1st and 2nd place.
