動感挑戰站Move and Play !

無論你是甚麼年紀，身體有多強壯，你都必須依靠腦部去協調各感覺、肌肉、骨骼和神經系統才能流暢地完成每一個動作，如果協調出現失誤，一切動作會變得混亂。「動感挑戰站」是一個充滿歡樂和刺激的展覽，展出20組極富挑戰性的互動展品，除了可讓你大展身手，測試自己的身體協調能力之外，還會闡述你參與挑戰時所涉及的感覺及心理狀況，從而加強你對自身各種感覺包括視覺、聽覺、觸覺、本體感覺和平衡感覺的認識，與及運動對身體的影響。

四年一度的世界盃足球比賽結束了，如果大家覺得意猶未盡，不妨參觀展覽，一顯球技，踢出勁球，又或者化身為守門員，攔截迎面而來的足球。精彩展品還有挑戰你平衡力的「走鋼線」，考驗你身體控制能力的「脈搏探險」和反應能力的「韻律甜甜圈」等。參觀時大家緊記穿着運動服！

「動感挑戰站」是一個充滿挑戰和刺激的展覽，如這「跳大繩」就挑戰你的耐力和對時間及空間的感覺。“Move and Play !” is an exhibition full of challenges and excitement. For example, this “Skip the Rope” will test your endurance as well as sense of time and space.

No matter how old and how strong you are, you need your brain to coordinate your sensory, musculoskeletal and nervous systems to allow you to move smoothly. If a fault occurs in your coordination, your movements would instantly fall into disarray. "Move and Play !" is an exciting and fun-filled exhibition packed with 20 groups of very challenging exhibits. The exhibits not only give you a chance to show your remarkable physical skills and test your body coordination, but also introduce to you the involved sensory and mental processes. Thus, the exhibits enhance your knowledge about different senses including sight, hearing, touch, proprioception and balance as well as the impact of physical exercise on your body.

The FIFA World Cup has ended in this summer. However, you may come to visit our exhibition to continue your excitement. In our exhibition, you can show off your football skills and make a powerful soccer shot or pretend as a goalkeeper to block every football coming in your way. Other amazing exhibits include “Tightrope Walking” that challenges your sense of balance, “Pulse Adventure” that tests your body control capability, and “Disco Donut” that challenges your reaction speed. Please remember to wear sports shoes, socks and sportswear when you make your visit!

神奇物質 — 材料科學展Strange Matter

科學家是出色的魔術師，能化腐朽為神奇，可令玻璃變得不易破碎；金屬屈曲後能回復原狀；聚合物能變成神奇的吸水物料；而沙粒更搖身一變成為現今生活不可或缺的電腦晶片。這一切當然不是靠魔術秘技，而是有賴科學家多年來研究物質的特性和加以應用的成果。

「神奇物質 — 材料科學展」帶領參觀者進入奇妙的物質世界，深入認識材料科學怎樣應用在人類的生活上。展覽將展出40多件互動展品，介紹一些有趣而實用的材料和它們背後的科學原理，以及它們如何被應用於現今科技的產物如汽車避震器、眼鏡框架、數碼多功能影音光碟(DVD)播放機及高爾夫球桿等。此外，展覽還探索材料科學未來的應用。

Scientists are marvellous magicians who can "turn" stones into gold. Through their efforts, glass becomes almost unbreakable; metal can revert into its original shape by itself after bending; polymers can be converted into the mysterious water absorbent; sand can be transformed into indispensable microchips that are widely used nowadays. Of course, all these are not magic, but are the results of continuous efforts of scientists on research of the properties of materials and their innovative applications.

The “Strange Matter” exhibition brings visitors into the bizarre world of strange matters, and allows visitors to dig into the science behind the materials they use every day. It features 40 and more exhibits that introduce the science principles behind some funny and useful materials; and how they are used to develop new products such as car shock absorbers, eyeglass frames, DVD players and golf clubs. Furthermore, it could also give a glimpse on the future development of materials sciences.

九天攬月 — 中國探月工程展Exhibition on China's Lunar Exploration Programme

2013年12月，嫦娥三號發射升空，帶着著陸器和月球車成功在月球著陸，實現了中國首次月面軟著陸和探測。這是繼發射人造星和載人航天工程之後，中國航天事業發展的另一項重要成就。嫦娥三號任務的成功，為往後的探月工程起了承先啟後的作用，意義非常重大。適逢今年是人類登月45周年，民政事務局和國家航天局特別在今年7月21日至8月24日在香港科學館舉辦了「九天攬月 — 中國探月工程展」，讓香港市民認識中國探月工程、嫦娥一、二及三號任務取得的成果，與及月球的科學知識等。

展覽共展出20多組實物模型，包括嫦娥三號的著陸器、「玉兔號」月球車、長征火箭、人造星和發射場，以及特別為今次展覽製作的互動展品，例如遙控月球車和月球秤等。展覽亦介紹香港參與嫦娥三號任務的科研工作，包括由香港理工大學與中國空間技術研究院專家合力研發的「相機指向機構系統」。是次展覽深受市民的支持，錄得超過十四萬人次參觀。如果未能抽空參觀這展覽的朋友，可瀏覽以下網址，回顧展覽的花絮和精彩展品。

In December 2013, China achieved its first soft landing and exploration on the lunar surface by the successful landing of Chang'e-3 with its lander and the lunar rover. This marked another milestone for the development of aerospace technology in China, following the launch of satellites and the manned space missions. The success of the Chang'e-3 mission played an important and meaningful role in the future of the lunar exploration project. As the year of 2014 marked the 45th anniversary of the first human lunar landing, the Home Affairs Bureau and the China National Space Administration specially presented the “Exhibition on China's Lunar Exploration Programme” from 21 July to 24 August 2014 to offer the public a great opportunity to learn more about the accomplishments of the Chang'e-1, 2 and 3 missions, scientific knowledge related to China's lunar exploration programme and the Moon.

The exhibition featured around 20 sets of models and exhibits, including the lunar lander for Chang'e-3, the Yutu Lunar Rover, Long March rockets, a satellite, and the simulation of the launch site. In addition, interactive exhibits specially designed for the exhibition, such as simulation of the lunar rover and lunar scale, were also included. The exhibition also introduced details of local participation in the space technology used for the Chang'e-3 mission, including the "Camera Pointing System" jointly developed by researchers of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and China Academy of Space Technology. The exhibition was well received with an attendance of more than 140,000. 監察香港的城市熱島效應Monitoring Hong Kong's Urban Heat Island

在城市化和溫室效應導致的全球暖化的影響下，香港市區愈來愈熱，令我們感到不舒適；然而，城市化對溫度增高的影響遠比全球暖化趨勢的更為明顯。為了評估香港溫度的變化和熱排放量，香港理工大學土地測量及地理資訊學系利用了搭載在人造星的探測器及航空影像就香港的城市熱島效應進行了十多年的監測。研究團隊利用由美國太空總署的地球觀測星(Terra)、陸地星(Landsat)以及中國的環境一號(HJ1B)，獲取了於夏季晝、夜所拍攝的熱紅外影像，透過這些影像的處理及分析可以對香港溫度分佈的情況有着一個概括的了解。在2013年8月，研究團隊更利用了直昇機拍攝街道及建築物的熱影像，從而獲得更多詳盡的資料來製作立體熱模型，藉此分析不同的建築設計、建材以及規劃是如何影響熱島的形成。在拍攝這些影像時，另一組研究人員則同時在地面上對地表以及大氣溫度進行實地測量，以進行影像校正和準確性評估。藉着全球氣候模型與星拍攝影像，研究團隊預測於2040年，香港市區中心溫度將會上升攝氏1至2度。

展覽資料由香港理工大學土地測量及地理資訊學系李真教授及其研究團隊提供，展期至2014年 12月31日。

Hong Kong’s urban areas have been getting hotter and more uncomfortable, due to the combined effects of urbanisation and the greenhouse effect of global warming. However, the influence of urban development on these higher temperatures is much greater than the effects of long-term global climate change. The researchers of the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics, Hong Kong Polytechnic University have been monitoring Hong Kong’s urban heat island using satellite and aerial images for over ten years in order to estimate temperatures and heat emissions over the city. Thermal satellite images, from NASA’s Terra and Landsat satellites as well as the Chinese satellite HJ1B, are captured on hot summer days and nights to give an overview of temperatures across Hong Kong. Helicopter-borne thermography was carried out in August 2013 to provide additional, more detailed thermal information on streets and buildings to help researchers to build 3-dimensional thermal models. These can indicate how different building design, materials and planning practices affect heat island formation. The satellite and helicopter-borne thermal images are supported by a large field team on the ground at the imaging time, measuring surface and air temperatures for image calibration and accuracy assessment. By integrating Global Climate Models with thermal satellite images, the research team predicts an increase of 1-2°C for the core urban areas of Hong Kong by 2040.

Figure 1 and Figure 2 are the thermal satellite images of Kowloon taken at 11:09am, 22 August 2009 and 10:42pm, 17 September 2009 respectively. Studying of these images can give an overview of temperature distribution across Hong Kong.

因全球暖化趨勢及香港都市化而產生城市熱島效應，令香港的夏季愈來愈長，發出酷熱天氣警告的日子愈來愈多。有專家預計到2050年，香港將沒有冬天。

城市熱島是指城市中心與其周邊郊區的溫度差異，主要成因是城市中心內高聳和密集的建築物，在日間吸收的熱能未能在夜間充份散發。香港市區是世界人口密度最高的地區之一，從多方面的研究顯示，城市熱島效應除了影響居住環境外，更會影響市民的健康。

香港理工大學土地測量及地理資訊學系的研究團隊，在過去十多年持續監測香港的城市熱島效應，目標為要構建整個城市的時間和空間熱模型，以協助規劃者優化城市設計，舒緩香港的城市熱島效應。在講座中，講者將介紹該研究團隊的工作及對香港未來城市熱島效應的預測。

2015中學校際科學常識問答比賽Secondary School Science Quiz Competition 2015

為了提高公眾對科學的興趣，香港科學館將於2015年4月舉辦「2015中學校際科學常識問答比賽」。比賽題目涵蓋不同的科學範疇，藉此鼓勵學生接觸各類科學新知，擴闊視野。

學生將以學校名義組隊參賽。初賽採用多項選擇題形式進行，決賽則加入解決難題項目。比賽以粵語進行，並在有需要時輔以相關科學名詞的英文名稱。比賽設有冠、亞、季、優異獎及個人最高得分獎，各得獎單位均可獲獎金及獎座。

2015趣味科學比賽 Fun Science Competition 2015

落聚生輝 Glory down the Road

目的：設計並製作一組器件，放置在賽道上一固定跨度距離的鴻溝上，並能承接從斜台起始點自由滾動下來的重物。重物需靜止於器件上，並且不能接觸下方托面方算成功，以器件較輕者為優勝。

每年舉行的趣味科學比賽均會擬定不同的題目，讓參賽者設計和製作器件去解決和完成擬定的任務。2015年的比賽名為「落聚生輝」。比賽採用隊際形式進行，須以學校名義參賽。

於2013/14年度，科學館導賞員共提供了 2,958 節的服務，合共服務了 69,976 名市民，當中包括學生、遊客、長者及殘疾人士等。導賞服務範圍包括導覽、擔任實驗班導師和工作坊的助理以及各類型的科普活動，我們在此衷心感謝各導賞員的支持。

今年科學館舉辦了「巨龍傳奇」展覽，總共吸引了超過77萬人次到場參觀，為配合這個歷來最大規模的專題展覽，科學館更首次舉辦了「恐龍夜派對」親子留宿活動，讓參加者能在科學館體驗獨一無二的晚間留宿活動。有賴導賞員的投入和積極參與，讓這次活動得以順利進行，並受到參加者的一致讚賞。

本年度共有54位導賞員因表現出色獲頒授導賞服務獎項，當中更有兩位獲長期服務獎及十位獲最佳服務獎。各得獎導賞員於8月1日晚上出席了「2014年度導賞員服務獎頒授典禮」接受嘉許，並與他們的親友出席了頒獎禮後舉行的聯歡會，享受了一個愉快的晚上。

2014年度導賞員服務獎頒授典禮Docent Service Award Presentation Ceremony 2014

In 2013/14, docents of Science Museum have provided 2,958 service sessions and served 69,976 visitors which included students, tourists, elderly and people with disabilities. The docent services covered a wide range of services such as guided tours, serving as tutors of laboratory classes and workshop assistants, and various types of science promotion activities. We sincerely thank all docents for their support. In the year, the Science Museum has organised the “Legends of the Giant Dinosaurs” exhibition, the largest of its type ever held in Hong Kong, attracting over 770,000 visitors. To complement the exhibition, the museum organised an innovative "A Night with Dinosaurs" sleepover programme which offered family groups a unique experience of staying at the museum throughout the night. This sleepover programme received overwhelming responses from the public and won the appreciation of all participants. It would not have been possible without the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by the docents.

This year, 54 docents received the Docent Service Award. Among these awards, two docents were presented the Long Service Award, and ten docents were presented the Best Service Award. The Hong Kong Science Museum presented awards to the outstanding docents at the "Docent Service Award Presentation Ceremony 2014" held on 1 August, 2014. All participated docents enjoyed a joyful celebration party with their families and friends after the ceremony.

第四十七屆聯校科學展覽The 47th Joint School Science Exhibition

聯校科學展覽是一個由中學生策劃和籌備的大型科學展覽。今年的主題是「家」，有來自內地、新加坡、瑞典、兩所本地大學和25所本地中學的代表隊伍展出他們的發明品，展覽已於8月22日至27日在香港中央圖書館展覽館順利舉行。

同學以創意發明「點．滴」抽濾管，盡攬全場總冠軍、最受評判嘉許和最受歡迎攤位三個大獎。

同學向參觀者介紹自家發明的「環保垃圾分類回收系統」。

在開幕禮後，第四十七屆執委會成員與各主禮嘉賓合照。

同學利用有趣的模型介紹創新發明「全方位火警逃生指引系統」的運作原理。

Application for Waiver of Admission FeeKindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, special schools, post-secondary institutions, universities, charitable organisations and non-profit-making organisations(except private schools offering educational courses such as tutorial, commercial, language and computer courses) registered in Hong Kong arranging group visits of 20 or more visitors may apply for waiver of admission charge. Application should be made at least 2 weeks before the date of visit and will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis subject to availability.
