  • Feast of the Holy Family. A Parish Feast Day Celebration Saturday, December 26th: Bishop Estèvez will celebrate the

4:00 pm Mass and bless the newly renovated church. A reception in our Parish Life Center will following.

Holy Day, Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God Thursday, December 31st: 4:00 pm Vigil

Friday, January 1st: 9:00 am, 12:10 pm, and 7:00 pm

    A message from Fr. David:

What a joy it is to be able to celebrate our parish feast day in our newly renovated Church. Each time I walk in, I am overcome by the noble simplicity of the space. And I love hearing from all of you about how happy you are with the outcome. I couldn’t be more pleased. Maybe PHASE II will be able to get started soon ….

This quote from Pope Benedict XVI is quite fitting: “The beauty and the harmony of churches, destined to render praise to God, invites us human beings too, though limited and sinful, to convert ourselves to form a "cosmos", a well-ordered construction, in close communion with Jesus, who is the true Holy of Holies. This reaches its culmination in the Eucharistic liturgy, in which the "ecclesia" that is, the community of baptized finds itself again united to listen to the Word of God and nourish itself on the Body and Blood of Christ. Gathered around this twofold table, the Church of living stones builds herself up in truth and in love and is moulded interiorly by the Holy Spirit, transforming herself into what she receives, conforming herself ever more to her Lord Jesus Christ." - Pope Benedict XVI

We do have some gifts for each family: the rosary makers have supplied a rosary for each family to take home, and there are some prayer cards with Our Blessed Mother and St. Joseph that our friends from Corey-Kerlin Funeral Homes & Crematory 940 Cesery Boulevard. Jacksonville, have graciously donated. Let us join our prayers so that all of our families can be happy and holy and that all of our homes can truly become domestic churches.

I humbly ask all of us, clergy and parish staff included, to avoid any unnecessary talking inside of the church. It is a sacred space and we need to get into the habit of practicing sacred silence, out of respect for the sacred space, the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, and for the people who have come to pray. You will notice that without the carpet and cushions, that our voices carry much louder and farther. Even within the narthex we need to be mindful. If talking is necessary, please do so at a whisper. We have some wonderful outdoor spaces and courtyards that we can use for socializing.

I continue to be overwhelmed at the great number of people returning to Sunday Mass. As we get used to the new

space, please be patient with us as we will do our best to make accommodations concerning our approach to the ongoing

    pandemic.

As a reminder, our Bishop has mandated the wearing of masks for the entirety of Mass because we

cannot ensure 6 feet social separation. This mandate continues to apply to everyone. Anyone who does not want

to wear a mask, please remember that our bishop has extended the dispensation for attending Mass.

If maintaining social distance is a priority for you, I encourage you to consider attending the 4 pm Mass on Saturday

or the 7am Mass on Sunday. While we cannot guarantee any specific distancing, we will try to block every other row at

these Masses. If you choose to attend the 9 am, 11 am, and 5 pm Masses on Sunday, please be prepared to be a little closer

to each other; again, this is the reason for the wearing of masks.

Also, with the increasing number of people, we thought that it would be helpful to remind everyone about the

procedures for receiving Holy Communion here at Holy Family: Once the priest receives from the chalice, it is time for the people to come forward to receive.

As usual, the communion line forms down the main aisle

Then starting from the center of the sanctuary and continuing out toward the left and right, line up right at the base of the

    steps to the sanctuary.

You can space yourselves; there is no need to maintain 6 feet apart.

For families and groups who are sitting next to each other, please stand right next to each other

If you desire to kneel as you receive, please kneel on the first step.

    · If you are receiving in the hand, you are to bow as a sign of reverence, then hold your hands flat, one on top of the

other. Both hands must be free.

    · If you are receiving on the tongue, you must come to the priest, who will distribute on the LEFT SIDE. Please tilt

head back and stick tongue out beyond the teeth.

    · If your mask has already been removed please refrain from saying Amen out loud.

You shouldn’t walk away until after you have consumed the Host and put your mask back on.

As each person turns to walk back to their seat, the next person standing in the center aisle should immediately fill

in the spot that was vacated.
