appLICaTIONThe CentriFlow 3D plug fan range is a complete fan assembly to be used in Air Handling Units. The fan is available in 11 sizes and covers air flow up to 14 m3/s (50.400 m3/h) and pressure rises up to 2500 Pa.

The fan is equipped with standard IE2 or IE3 class AC-motors which are driven by a frequency converter using either 0 - 10 V input or the MODBUS-RTU interface for communication. The fan is ready to be used - plug and play - and all cabling is done between motor and drive.

The new developed impeller is specially designed to work inside an Air Handling Unit to give the best performance for

• high total efficiency

• low sound levels at inlet and outlet

• easy to install and use

• lowest possible vibration levels

avaILabLE vERsIONsIn CentriFlow 3D GMEB the same impeller is available with a standard AC motor (IE2 or IE3 class) with different drive arrange-ments, see below.

Please note that for sizes 025 and 028 there is a limited range of drive arrangements available.

DEsIgN DEsCRIpTION

FaN IMpELLER

The impeller is made of aluminium. The hollow section airfoil blades are made of extruded aluminium profile and are welded to impeller front and back plate. The leading edges of blades are inclined and the blades are backward curved. Number of blades is six (6). Hub

The hub is made of die casted aluminium in sizes 025 - 071 and of steel in size 080. Motor is fastened to hub by using a keyway and fastening screws.

MOTOR bRaCkET aND basE FRaMEThe motor bracket is made of of galvanized sheet steel (sizes 025-071) or of welded sheet steel and painted with 100 µm thick epoxy powder paint (size 080).

The base frame is made of galvanized sheet steel (sizes 025-071) or hot dip galvanized steel (size 080).

DEsIgN DEsCRIpTION

FaN INLET

The fan inlet is designed to optimize the flow into the impeller. The inlet is deep-drawn in one piece and made of galvanized sheet steel.

aIR FLOW sENsORThe inlet is equipped with an air flow sensor as standard. It is used for measuring the air flow through the impeller. As standard there are two measurement nipples and four measurement nipples are available as accessory.

When a fan is in Air Handling Unit, the differential pressure Δpm shall be measured between the static pressures in the suction side plenum and air flow sensor.

The air flow is calculated as a function of the measurement pressure difference Δpm with the coefficient k as a parameter by using the following formula:

MOTORCentriFlow 3D GMEB fans are supplied with IEC-standard IE2 or IE3 motors. The motors are equipped with a thermistor as standard. Motors are designed to be used with a speed controller, which can be included in the delivery as loose or built-on.

spEED CONTROLLERAll GMEB fans using AC-motors shall be normally used with speed controller. Direct connection on mains is allowed but it needs to be checked if the motor power is big enough for con-nection directly to the mains. All fan-motor combinations are tested at the factory before the delivery.

Loose speed controller can be mounted nearby the fan, e.g on the side panel of air handling unit. A screened cable of 3.5 m (sizes 025-050) or 4.5 m (sizes 056-080) is included in the delivery and connected on the motor side.

Built-on arrangement is ready to be used and only requires power from mains and control signals.

Specification for different speed controllers and wiring diagrams are to be found at the end of this catalogue.

OpERaTION paNELLoose speed controller has operation panel as a standard. Built-on versions have optional operation panel. It can be mounted on the side panel of the air handling unit.

Following actions can be made with operation panel:

• Read motor data like speed, frequency, current, voltage, operating hours etc.

• Handle alarms

• Drive motor manually

FaN IN aIR HaNDLINg uNITsThe Air Handling Unit normally has an influence on fan capacity and sound data. As the fan data is given for free inlet - free outlet some corrections are required to estimate the data inside the casing.

The new CentriFlow 3D fan is performing well inside the Air Handling Unit. Even in this case some corrections to catalogue may be needed. Estimated corrections are available in the soft-ware.

Recommended minimum safety distances are shown in the picture above.
