Hailed by critics as “a master of the
Khachaturian violin concerto” (Austin Chronicle)
and “a violinist like no other” (The New York
Times), award-winning violinist Jessica
Mathaes enjoys a multifaceted career as a so-
loist, recording artist, educator and concertmas-
ter.
Ms. Mathaes has appeared with orchestras
throughout Europe and the United States .
She has performed in many of the world’s great halls including the Concertge-
bouw and the Berliner Philharmonie, and has been presented in recital across
the country . In 2011 Ms. Mathaes made her Asian solo debut in a recital tour
of Singapore sponsored by the US Embassy.
Her debut solo CD, “Suites and Sweets,” was released on the Centaur label in
the spring of 2009 to critical acclaim in Fanfare, Audiophile Audition, and Mu-
sicWeb International (UK) among others, and features works by Cowell, Stra-
vinsky, Korngold, de Falla, Ravel and Massenet.
Ms. Mathaes was appointed concertmaster of the Austin Symphony in 2005,
becoming the youngest person to occupy the chair and the first woman con-
certmaster in the symphony's 100-year history. The first-ever winner of the
Classical Artists Development Foundation fellowship, Ms. Mathaes is currently
on the faculty of the National Music Festival as well as the Masterworks Festi-
val.
She holds performance degrees in both violin and viola from Rice University,
where she graduated magna cum laude and studied with Kenneth Goldsmith,
Karen Ritscher, and Raphael Fliegel.
Ms. Mathaes performs on a violin crafted in 1807 by Johannes Cuypers, who
is known as the Dutch Stradivarius. For more information, please visit

ORCHESTRA RANDY PHILLIPS
Pastors Randy and Denise Phillips have
been married and in ministry together for
25 years. Randy began full-time ministry
in 1985 as Business Administrator of his
father’s church PromiseLand Central.
After becoming an ordained minister in
1989, he served their as Associate Pastor
for the next 16 years.
In February 2005, with a group of 80 members, Randy and Denise
founded PromiseLand West, which became LifeAustin in 2012. In
only 6 short years, the membership has grown to over 1200. In 2007,
the church purchased 68 acres in southwest Austin and began the
construction process on “Dream City”, a community resource that will
include recreational facilities, a counseling center, and facilities for the
youth and elderly, an amphitheatre for entertainment venues as well
as a state of the art sanctuary for worship.
Dream City will be a place where lives are changed, dreams are re-
stored and people will continue to grow in God and His word.
In addition to his church ventures, Randy founded an international
praise and worship television program, The Awakening, in 2001. The
program airs over 6 networks around the world.
He also founded contemporary singing group Phillips, Craig and
Dean, Inc (PCD) in 1991. The music group has collected 20 number
one songs and numerous awards, including the 2010 Dove Award for
Inspirational Song of the Year.
Randy and Denise have two daughters, 23 year-old Garland and 8
year-old Lily Pearl.
