EXPLANATION of ThemeEXPLANATION of ThemeTim hated his old baseball glove. He wanted to play with a new glove, but he didn’t have any money, so he decided to steal it. But when Tim got caught stealing the glove, his parents said he couldn’t play baseball all summer.

The THEME it is more important to do the right thing than get what you want all the time.

Applies to the text because we see that Tim experienced a negative outcome after stealing the baseball glove. The reader INFERS that if he had not stolen the glove, he would have gotten to play baseball during the summer – which would have been a POSITIVE outcome for Tim.
