Cell Analogy Poster Project Mission: Design a poster that shows a plant or an animal cell with its organelles, BUT find a picture of something that has the same function as that organelle. You will use this picture to represent the organelle. Guidelines: 1. The cell should be no smaller than 15 cm by 20 cm, and done on a piece of poster board. You must include 12 of the following structures: Cell Membrane Ribosomes Cell Wall (if applicable) Endoplasmic Reticulum Nucleus Golgi Apparatus (Body) Cytoplasm Vacuole(s) Cytoskeleton Lysosome Chromatin/Chromosomes Chloroplasts 2. Correctly title your cell as an animal cell, plant cell, or something more specific. 3. Find out the function of each structure. Use your book or internet. 4. Find a magazine picture, clip art, or drawing of an everyday object which has a similar function as each cell part. Write an analogy to show the similarity between each cell part and the object pictured. Mission: Design a poster that shows a plant or an animal cell with its organelles, BUT find a picture of something that has the same function as that organelle. You will use this picture to represent the organelle.

Guidelines:1. The cell should be no smaller than 15 cm by 20 cm, and done on a piece of poster board. You must include 12 of the following structures:

Cell Membrane RibosomesCell Wall (if applicable) Endoplasmic ReticulumNucleus Golgi Apparatus (Body)Cytoplasm Vacuole(s)Cytoskeleton LysosomeChromatin/Chromosomes Chloroplasts

For example, the nucleus is like a brain because it controls and coordinates the activities of the whole cell in the same way the brain controls the activities of the body. (You may NOT use this example on your poster!)

5. Arrange you cell diagram to resemble the cell, label each part, and include a sentence explaining your analogy, and the pictures with analogies on the poster board.
