Foundation NEWS Introducing the Hoffman Innovative Learning Fund Thanks to Richard and Priscilla Hoffman, we have created a new educational fund called the Hoffman Innovative Learning Fund to support the development and implementation of what is tentatively being called the MedStar Montgomery Operating System. Styled after the Toyota Way, it’s an approach being used by many hospitals to advance the delivery of care by creating a culture of associate empowerment and ongoing performance development. This new operating system, currently in the planning stages, was introduced by T.J. Senker, president of MedStar Montgomery Medical Center and senior vice president of MedStar Health. This innovative initiative will involve all associates and physicians at MedStar Montgomery undergoing two- to three- year extensive training that focuses on continuous learning and process enhancements. Foundation NEWS

Introducing the Hoffman Innovative Learning FundThanks to Richard and Priscilla Hoffman, we have created a new educational fund called the Hoffman Innovative Learning Fund to support the development and implementation of what is tentatively being called the MedStar Montgomery Operating System.

The Hoffman Innovative Learning Fund will help build and grow this new initiative, ultimately benefiting and improving our patient and family care. Invest today at MedStarMontgomery.org/YourInitiative.

Celebrate National Nurses Week with a DonationJoin the MGH Health Foundation in honoring our nurses and clinicians for National Nurses Week (Friday, May 6, through Thursday, May 12) by making a tax-deductible contribution to nursing education at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center.

Your investment will provide funding for educational resources, required certifications and seminars, and scholarships to advance their degrees, all for our nurses to continue to provide the best and most innovative care to our patients and families.

To make a donation today, please visit MedStarMontgomery.org/NursesWeek.

In February, the MGH Health Foundation awarded three nurses with scholarship funds to advance their degrees. The 2016 Jeremy's Hour Exceeds 120 Attendees! On Friday, April 15, the Montgomery County Youth Workers Training Committee presented Chasing the Buzz: Understanding Adolescent & Youth Drug Use, hosted through Jeremy’s Hour: Knowledge Can Save a Life. This year, the topics included: drug use by adolescents and young adults; drug laws and the impact they have on clients; and techniques and methods to develop a successful treatment plan.

Established by Cyndi Glass, Jeremy’s Hour is funded through the annual community event, Jeremy’s Run, which raises money for a variety of organizations, one of which is the Addiction and Mental Health Center (AMHC) at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center. Cyndi started Jeremy’s Run in memory of her son Jeremy who passed away at the age of 20 from a drug overdose. In 2014, Cyndi partnered with our AMHC to donate a portion of the event to create Jeremy’s Hour: Knowledge Can Save a Life, which includes seminars on the topic of substance use in adolescents.

Join us at the 8th Annual Jeremy’s Run on Monday, May 30, at the Fair Hill Shopping Center in Olney to support our AMHC. For online registration and more information, please visit JeremysRun.com.

Don’t Miss Our 40 Year Celebration! As April comes to an end, our 40th Annual Fore! Your Health Golf Classic, with Partnering Sponsor Sandy Spring Bank, is a mere four weeks away on Thursday, May 19 at Manor Country Club. All proceeds benefit the Workforce Development Program at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center.
