BUILD A BETTERBOTTOM LINE!

Our VMI program is different from the others! CCL’s VMI program is tailored to your production schedule. We can stock items in our warehouse or yours. With our “consignment flow-through”, parts are invoiced only after you pull them from inventory accelerating your order-to-cash cycle. You have no need for any significant “safety stock.” The availability of this “No Cost Inventory” can lead to significant cost savings. Your margin will improve with reduced purchasing costs. CCL monitors your inventory level and not POs. You spend less time on administrative tasks such as PO corrections and reconciliations. Savings can also be found in reduced warehouse expenses. Lower inventories reduce the need for warehouse space and warehouse resources. CCL will warehouse it for you if desired! CCL will have visibility of your inventory levels, making it is easier to ensure that stock-outs will not happen.

Need 20,000 parts per month or two dozen? We have no minimums!

Benefits of CCL’s VMI program

• Reduced or eliminated stock outs• Reduced inventory levels• No-cost inventory in your facility or ours• Reduced planning and purchasing costs• Inventory matched to production requirements• Improved bottom-line results!

Fifty Years of Growing CapabilitiesCCL began in 1966 as a subsidiary of the F.W. Murphy Company. All fabricating, machine shop and metal stamping equipment was manually operated. In the 80’s the company transitioned to automated and CNC driven equipment. In the 90’s CCL created automated systems to keep dies from being damaged during production and began LEAN initiatives. In the 2000’s the company was purchased from Murphy by Tim Brumley, completed the transition to LEAN operations, became ISO 9001 certified and CSA certified.

A Case Study:A customer asked CCL to repair a broken die: a die used to produce 80,000 parts per year. The parts were made from a very expensive copper alloy available only from overseas suppliers. The parts produced with this die were experiencing a 35% fallout due to poor quality. In addition, the customer had to allocate seven to ten days for production due to inconsistencies in the production run and quality. Every five to ten parts had to be checked for quality, minor adjustments were made manually to the die, then quality was measured again. This obviously increased labor costs and slowed production. ActionBecause of the broad and deep experience of our tool and die department, (90 years, collectively) our team has experience with many unusual circumstances and materials. In collaboration with the customer, the Tool and Die team. . .

• designed a die with much tighter tolerances than the previous tooling. • added built-in micrometers (in the die) to manage minute adjustments made during production. • designed and built an uncoiler to feed the copper raw material into the stamping press.

ResultQuality fallout improved from more than 35% to less than 5%, saving expensive raw materials. Production time dropped from 10 days to a day and a half (since they don’t have to stop after every 5 parts for quality checks). Now the parts are run in batches and quality checks are random. With the micrometers built into the die, continuous adjustments can be made, thus eliminating errors.

• Fewer labor hours are needed since fewer hands are needed to produce and check the parts.• The production schedule is not delayed due to quality fallout.• The customer has reduced their overall costs of this part, adding margin to their bottom line.• The improvements paid for themselves after two production runs.

The customer was thrilled with the final product. The results translated into immediate savings and a better bottom line.
