What is Your Personal Brand? Noki Seekao, Director of Student Life and Courtney Chung, Assistant Director of Academic Advising (California College of the Arts) As higher education practitioners, how do we present ourselves and our accomplishments in appropriate ways? Targeted towards emerging professionals, this session encourages participants to develop their personal brand by identifying their values, clarifying their purpose, and aligning their goals. Participants will learn how to articulate and promote their brand with intentionality and purpose.

Shine like a STAR in Job InterviewsRachel H. Luna, Student Services Coordinator (Samuel Merritt University) Are you presenting your best self in job interviews? Are people hearing the story you are trying to tell? Are your interview responses dull, cliche, or boring? In this interactive workshop, candidates will sharpen their skills and learn to shine in interviews using the STAR technique and other strategies. Using guided reflection and planning, participants will practice crafting intentional answers and delivering natural responses. Participants will refine their interview techniques by learning to answer difficult questions, convey their values, and communicate with confidence.

Introduction

Break

They Told Me I Could Do Two Years Anywhere!Tom Wesley, Assistant Director for Student Conduct and Housing Services (Occidental College) New professionals entering the workforce often don't have the luxury of being patient in the job search. Financial constraints and the desire to put one's skills to work mean that we might move to a state that we never thought we'd ever even put one toe in! This presentation will examine the realities of the job search after you've made such a transition - and how to prepare for them.

Panel DiscussionThe Bay Area Small College Dean’s Network is comprised of senior-level administrators from private, four-year institutions in the Greater Bay Area with substantial, traditional undergraduate populations. Members of the Dean’s Network will join this panel, which concludes the day-long institute. The panelists will reflect on their experiences, challenges, surprises, and lessons learned as Small College Deans, including their journeys with supervision, administration and career advancement. Additionally, panelists will welcome general questions and an opportunity to engage with participants.
