VERMONT CATHOLIC ADVANCE DIRECTIVE
An Advance Directive is a legal document written in ad-vance of serious illness/injury to address your end-of-life medical care and/or medical care in the event you are unable to speak for yourself. Information packets for preparing an Advance Directive based on Catholic teach-ing are available in the parish office, or download the documents from www.vermontcatholic.org.
2019 CALENDARS ARE AVAILABLE
Our St. Joseph Cathedral calendars have arrived and are
available in the back of the Church. Many thanks to our
sponsors: Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Home, Norman C.
Smith, Attorney, and Boucher & Pritchard Funeral Home.
Please take one home with you today!
THE CELEBRATION OF
THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD
This year, we celebrate Epiphany on its traditional day, as
January 6th happens to fall on a Sunday. Falling twelve
days after Christmas, this was regarded as enough time for
the Magi to travel to Bethlehem from foreign lands. With
their arrival, Jesus is now manifest to the outside world.
Just as the star in the East symbolized the light of Christ
shining for the whole world to see, we are called to manifest
Christ in our lives so others can realize the Good News
wherever we go.

MONTHLY HEALING SERVICE
The first Healing Service of 2019 will be held on Sunday,
January 6th at 3:00 P.M. at St. Joseph Cathedral. All are
welcome to attend. During the Healing Service, we will
also have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Please
come and pray for your intentions as we begin a New
Year!
DAILY MASS INTENTIONS
If you would like to request a Mass intention for a deceased
loved one or for a special intention, please call or stop by
the Parish Office. There are several open spaces at the
12:05 daily Mass at St. Joseph’s Cathedral coming up the
next few weeks, and we would be happy to schedule your
intention. Call (802) 658-4333.

PARKING REMINDER
The Parish does have access to the parking across the road from St. Joseph Cathedral. However, the entrance is now on the North Street side of the park. The City of Burlington has been allowing us to park in the Elmwood Avenue City lot when we have major events. We will be requesting that parking for all of our Christmas Masses. Please call the Parish Office if you have any questions.
WORLDWIDE MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER
May the peace of Christ be with you this Christmas! Savor
Christ’s presence in your marriage by attending a World-
wide Marriage Encounter Weekend. The next weekend will
be March 15-17, 2019 in Isle La Motte, VT. For more in-
formation, call Gary & Lynn Root at 802-456-8114 or visit
them at https://wwmevt.org. Plan now to attend one of
these special weekends!
TOWN MEETINGS WITH BISHOP COYNE
As part of a continuing effort to promote full transparency
about Catholic matters in the State of Vermont, Bishop
Christopher Coyne has called for Catholic town meetings
to be held around the State during the month of January.
Please read the recent Inland See from December 29th-
30th for more details about these Town Meetings. Please
feel free to attend any of the meetings, not just by location.
The locations chosen are based on ease of access, and are
not intended to be a geographic districting.
All of the Town Meetings will be held from 6-7:30PM.
Here is the schedule:
Jan 10: St. Mary’s Church, 45 Fairfield Street, St. Albans
Jan 22: Holy Family Church, 4 Prospect St. Essex Jct.
Jan 23: St. Theresa Church, 44 East Street, Orleans
Jan 28: Sacred Heart Church, 238 Main St., Bennington
Jan 29: Christ the King, 66 South Main St., Rutland
Jan 31: St. John Vianney Church, 160 Hinesburg Road
South Burlington
Please note that the January 29th meeting at Christ the
King Church in Rutland was not included in the article in
the Inland See.
The operative frame for the discussions should be Chris-
tian charity and respectful listening focused on promoting
the work of salvation in and through the Church. Please
come and let your voice be heard. God Bless you!

THANK YOU PETER BEAUREGARD
Peter Beauregard, our Property Manager and Sexton for our
four cemeteries, has accepted a position with the Diocese of
Burlington as Facilities Manager. Peter’s last day will be
January 6, 2019.
Peter has been with us for five years, and has been an ex-
tremely valuable asset to the two churches, especially most
recently with the move from the former Cathedral and
parish offices.
In addition to managing all of the properties and cemeteries,
he has catered all of the funeral and diocesan functions held
here at St. Joseph’s in recent years.
We will continue to look forward to seeing him at Mass at
St. Joseph’s, and at the Bishop’s residence, for which he
will be responsible. Please be sure to extend your best
wishes to him and to join me in gratitude for his faithful
service to the parishioners both at Immaculate Conception
and at St. Joseph’s.
