LITURGY OF THE WORD
Joshua 5:9a, 10-12 The people celebrate the first Passover
In the Promised Land
Psalm 34 “Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 Jesus reconciles us to His Father
Luke 15: 1-3, 11-32 Forgiveness and reconciliation are
reasons for celebration
A new day has dawned in each reading today. The Israelites
have finally reached the Promised Land and can celebrate
the Passover in their new home. Saint Paul tells us that in
Christ, we are a new creation. The prodigal son is welcomed
home as someone who had been dead and is now alive
again. As we listen to the readings today, let us imagine we
are there as each new day dawns.
