Options For The Cat in the Alphabet Hat Booklets:

Each child completes every booklet. They keep their finished booklets in a “Portfolio” file folder. When they’ve completed a booklet, they circle the letter. Accomplishment stickers can be stuck to the inside. Child’s name is on the tab for quick filing.

Make a bulletin board by having students pick a letter to make a booklet for. You can assign letters according to first or last initials, or toss the letter tiles in a Seuss hat for children to pick from. Children color & glue the letter tile along with their Seuss-hat or school photo to a sheet of construction paper. They glue their booklet underneath as shown.

Make a class book. Do the letter choice, as with the bulletin board. Instead of cutting out their hat, they only trim off the directions. Teacher collects and collates everyone’s contribution into a class-made book. This is the cover of the book. You could do the bulletin board first, and then when you take it down, make into your class book.

Q R S TIf you’re going to do a class-made booklet, make it extra fun by tossing these letter cards into a Seuss Hat. Children choose one, and that’s the letter they work on. If you’re going to make a bulletin board with them, have children color this letter tile and display it with their school photo next to their booklet. For extra pizzazz, take a photo of each child wearing the Seuss hat. TeachWithMe.com

This Cat in the Hat Flip the Flap Alphabet Booklet Was Created By:

Print this on white paper, trim and glue to a sheet of red construction paper. Give each child a letter to do. I’ve included 8 extra pages for letters B, P, R, S, & T in case you have more than 26 students in your class. Instead of children cutting out their hat they keep it as a whole page so that you can collect the pages and collate them into this class book. Cat in the Hat Flip the Flap Completed Booklets

Run this off on red construction paper for students to trim & glue to the front of a file folder. Each time they complete a booklet they circle or trace the letter on their hat. These make a wonderful portfolio to show improvement to parents during conferences. Children take them home at the end of the year as a nice keepsake, which they can review during the summer. As an incentive, children collect stickers for completed booklets, and showcase them on the inside flap of their file folder. ! ! ! ! ! ! ! cTeachWithMe.com
