    into the NextDecade6 July 1 SeptemberCasula Powerhouse Arts Centre is pleasedto be a host venue or the nationaltouring exhibition, CUSP: Designing intothe Next Decadedeveloped by Object:Australian Design Centre. CUSPpresentsa creative program exploring design as ahuman-centred approach that can enrichthe experience o lie or individuals,organisations and communities.

    In recent years, design has increasingly ound application beyond the scope oaesthetics and products. It is also being understood as a way o thinking that hasthe ability to positively shape our uture. Ranging rom architecture to ashion,

    object, interactive, system, robotics and sound design, this program will eaturetwelve visionary Australian designers who have the potential to infuence liestyle,learning and cultural change in the decade ahead.

    Anti-bullying drama workshopsThe anti-bullying workshops aim to encourage students to investigate the serioussubject o bullying in a relaxed and inormal environment. Students will be instilledwith a heightened awareness o bullying, in all its orms, discuss ways o tacklingbullying, and will realise the negative eects o bullying on their peers.

    The artists in the 22nd Annual Mil-PraAboriginal Educational Consultative Group(AECG) Exhibition and Art Award respondedto the theme Stories rom the Bush. The

    theme intends to provide engaging discourse surrounding issues that concernAboriginal communities. Stories rom the Bushacknowledges the stories rom localand broader country and supports positive uture development o Aboriginal culturethrough the visual arts.

    Pacifca Navigation5 October 1 DecemberThis year s Pacic program and estival will look at the contemporary andtraditional science o Navigation coupled with the social mapping o Pacic cultures.Contemporary artists have been invited to respond to collections rom museums,identiy and consult community historians about amily, country knowledge andheritage, as well as celebrate ancestral past and uture journeys. Pacifca Navigationwill also highlight signicant travelling exhibitions rom City Gallery New Zealandand includes artists such as Lindah Lepou, Ngaahina Hohaia and Israel TangaloaBirch.

    Notions o social mapping will explore how navigation has been integral to ourunderstanding o ancient history, gender and sexuality, health and well-being,identity and ashion, migration and globablisation. Artists include, Sam Tupou, BrianFuata, and Daniel Boyd.

    The Art o Costuming: Costumes rom Opera Australia: Take a unique andintimate look at what goes on behind the scenes o an opera production, rom theperspective o its costume and wig designers and makers.

    Tony Mott Rock Photos: Tony Mott is one o, i not the, worlds leading musicphotographers. His portraits show music artists in both intimate and stagedenvironments and his work ideally communicates the diverse and ascinatingways in which costume is used by musical artists.

    This is a practical workshop that ocuses on improvisation andplay building. Teachers will be introduced to new exercises,games and techniques o play building and improvisationwhich they can take back to the classroom and share withtheir students. Blanches depressingand heartbreaking past leads her to her sister Stella, in apoor but charming apar tment in the French Quarter o NewOrleans. However, her destructive relationship with Stellashusband triggers a wave o emotions which aim to break her.

    At this workshop teachers will:

    Receive a guided tour o the exhibition Cusp: Designinginto the Next Decade

    Work closely with, and be inspired by, designers romthe exhibition

    Learn about the design process and nd out how theycan be applied in your classroom

    Hear about how teachers have developed units o workintegrating design and design thinking

    Participate in a practical activity with a designer romthe exhibition
