Casting Considerations

Peter

Peter is a 20-something shmuck who has been wearing his braces for the best part of seven years. Peter is of English decent and has inherited a large house from his parents who

moved to Pasadena when he was 19, but he must still pay the bills. He often spends his time either at the bottom of a pint glass, bottle or can, playing PS2 classics. Opting for a hoodie and some black trousers as his default ‘look’, Peter takes pride in his ability to do nothing at all. An altercation with a poltergeist living in the house when he was 15, lands Peter a new best buddy. In this buddy relationship Peter takes charge because he is the cleverer of the two, but mostly because Guy is a ghost.

Considerations Name: Jake Roberts

Age: 17 I considered Jake for the role initially because he conformed to the

characteristics of a 20 year old. His deadpan expressions fit the narrative well. However, his tall height would make the framing of some of the shots

difficult. He also has no acting experience and is both a full-time student and an air cadet so the schedule will have to consider that. Name: Stephen Cobb Age: 18 I considered Stephen for the role of Peter initially because he has a little more

practice in acting. Appearance wise he matched the look of the character well. However, Stephen had prior arrangements during most of the shooting schedule.

Name: Oscar Howes

Age: 17 I initially considered Oscar as he was a contrast to the type of character I

wanted to portray. This would bring a whole new aspect to the character and perhaps make the delivery of the lines more humorous. His calendar was

filled with extra-curricula activities, however, that would not fit with shooting arrangements.

Name: Ansel Elgort

Age: 23 I considered Elgort as he matches the tone of the character I am trying to portray.

Although 23, Elgort fits the features of the character well. He has a substantial amount of acting experience, but he is very busy, and it’s unlikely that he would

be cast.

Guy

Guy is a 20-something shmuck who has been a poltergeist for the best part of seven years. Also of English decent, Guy died in a freak couch accident in 1995 and has been haunting

the house ever since. He’s ghost abilities are very inconsistent, sometimes he can grapple, lean on things other times he cannot. Guy doesn’t have a ‘default’ look and his clothing can change at a moments whim. After meeting Peter, Guy has found solace in at the bottom of a Capri-Sun, clutching a Dualshock 2 controller.

Considerations

Name: Charlie Bolding Age: 17

I considered Charlie for the role of Guy because he conformed to the characteristics of a 20-year-old. His goofy, geek expressions fit the

narrative well. He matches the characteristics of Guy very well. Although, he also has no acting experience and is both a full-time student so the

schedule will have to consider that.

Name: Matthew Thorogood Age: 17 I considered Matthew for the role of Guy because he matches the age as well as the appearance of the character. Matthew had prior arrangement as well and he has no acting experience whatsoever. Name: Owen John-Cullum Age: 17 I considered Owen but though he matches the age his appearance doesn’t match that of the characters. Owen also has prior arrangements that doesn’t fit the shooting schedule planned. Name: Evan Peters

Age: 30 I considered Peter because, although 30 he matches the characteristics of the

character of Guy. He has a substantial amount of acting experience but he is very busy, and it’s unlikely that he would be cast.

Michael Shawn

Michael is a 24-year-old man who at a superficial level seems fine. He is later revealed to be a racist. Of English decent, his higher class attitude is prevalent and somewhat patronizing.

Name: Ethan Richardson Age: 17 I considered Ethan as he matches the tone of the character I am trying to portray. Although 17, Ethan fits the features of the character well. He doesn’t have a substantial amount of acting experience, but he is not very busy, and it’s likely that he would be cast. Name: Jordan Mason

Age: 18 I considered Jordan but though he matches the age, his appearance doesn’t

match that of the characters. Jordan also has prior arrangements that doesn’t fit the shooting schedule planned.

Name: Dovydas Vaitkus

Age: 17 I considered Dovydas for the role of Michael initially because he has a little

more practice in acting. Appearance wise he matched the look of the character sufficiently. However, Dovydas had prior arrangements during most of the

shooting schedule.

Name: Will Poulter Age: 24

I considered Peter because his age matches the character’s and his appearance matches the characteristics of Guy. He has a substantial amount of acting experience but he is very busy, and it’s unlikely that he would be cast.
