Welcome from the Webelos “Castaway Isles” Chief

This year’s theme is “Castaway”. Survival skills are essential for anyone who might ever become lost in the wilderness— in a jungle, on a desert island, or, yes, during a Scout hike or campout! This adventure teaches several of those skills to Webelos Scouts, preparing them to deal with emergencies in an outdoor environment.

• All activities / skills are BOY SCOUT LED where possible • Explores the pros and cons of different wilderness survival methods • Introduces skills boys will need later in Scouting or in any survival situation • Provides opportunities to do things they have never done before Let’s celebrate the 32nd Anniversary of the Webelos Woods. There are a lot of

exciting new changes and the Webelos Woods staff want to ensure you have a great program this year and beyond.

This will be a fun filled weekend with a lot of “hands-on” learning opportunities

and fun for the boys as well as different opportunities for parents and adults to get exposure to what Boy Scouting is all about!

We have watched our young Cubs grow into confident young men ready to enter

their new adventures as they transition into “Boy scouts”! It is my hope that everyone here this weekend leaves with new friends and fun memories, along with exposure to new information and skills that they can then expand upon with their own families and fellow-Scouts.

Remember the importance of Webelos transition – it is our primary function as

leaders to introduce boys to the exciting experience as Boy Scouts. I cannot wait to stand Proud along with fellow leaders in our District celebrating our Cubs crossing over to continue in the Boy Scout journey towards Eagle!

Who wants to be on VIDEO!! You'd be surprised what the Webelos want to do. A troop used Wilderness Survival as a recruiting tool. The first time it was done, it was a complete fluke; most of their gear was destroyed and had to come up with something the night before the campout. What stories could we come up with? Let’s find out!
