Who is Amerigo

Vespucci?

A.) Famous art lover who

commissioned the Mona

Lisa?

B.) Italian architect

credited with designing

the Roman Collosseum.

C.) Explorer who was

praised for his discoveries

and mapping of the new

world.

Well… which one is it? These are some of the

questions you may have to face as the Cash

Cart cruises Poor Farmer’s… at 5 mph.

You never know when they’re coming, unless

they have been drinking, then we will all know

when they are coming.

Win big prizes, like stuff we bought at the

dollar store, Farmer Carl Gear and much-much

more… except cash.

This could be pretty fun guys, I know who is

going to ask the questions… You may have an

opportunity to stump the person who is

actually looking at the answer.

Keep an eye out for the Cash Cart cruising

around the campground. There is no set times

because the hosts are not very dependable.

Recently I helped a friend of a friend with the delivery of a camper they purchased

at another dealership. When I got there, they were standing outside of their new

$25,000.00 travel trailer waiting for the sales person to bring keys. Luckily, I had

my camper keys with me and was able to let them into their coach. At this point I

figured it would be a minute because the salesperson still hadn’t given a walk-

through, so they gave me the dime tour. It was a brand new entry level travel trailer

that had almost the exact same floorplan as one of the Shastas in our brochoure,

with many of the same appliances.

Just then, their sales person showed up in a golf cart. She said hello, was very

polite and handed her customers the keys; then said “Enjoy your purchase” and

drove away. I knew these folks had questions and felt bad that they didn’t get any

answers, so I went through some key components with them. Half way through my

walk-through, the wife of the couple told me that I should do this for a living. LOL

I explained to her that Poor Farmer’s was not just a campground, but that we sold

Coachmen fifth wheels and Shasta travel trailers as well. Looks like I got the word

out a little late on that one.

But that’s okay! I am not going to sell everyone. To be honest, I don’t want to be as

big as some of the mega-dealers out there. Those guys do what they do to sell as

many units as they possibly can. I like the fact that when we sell a unit, it is a big

deal… for all of us. I don’t think that the customer service increases along with an

increase to volume. Customer service increases when knowlegable men and

women work together to give the customer an honest, comfortable buying

experience that they might not be able to get at the bigger dealerships.

All we ask is that you give us a chance to earn your business. We understand better

than anyone, that we may not have what your looking for. However, we could have

more than what you’re looking for. You won’t know unless you ask. Our new

Chaparral fifth wheels and Shasta travel trailers are on the lot and ready for

purchase. Don’t see what you want? They build them every day, and we can have

them built with the accessories you want. Talk to our sales team in the parts store

1pm Kids Paint with Paula

Hey Kids! Throw on one of Dad’s old shirts

and let your creativity shine.

4pm Patriotic Bingo

in the Big Shelter. All prizes are Red, White

and Blue. $.50 per card

6:30pm Sundae Social

in the Big Shelter. Ice Cream and toppings

galore! Bring some cash for a donation and

your sweet tooth.

9:30pm Light Parade!

We will gather at the Big Shelter before

cruising the campground in our lite bright

carts.

One of Poor Farmer’s most talented campers is Paula

Bragg. Paula has proven her skills as a champion chili

maker, campsite designer and her paint nights have

become the talk of the town. She inspires the true artist

inside us all and allows your art to flow onto the canvas,

block of wood, train car… or what ever she chooses to

have us paint on. It is also fun to see which of our friends

have some true talent.

This fourth of July, Paula is hosting a painting activity for

the kiddos. It should be interesting to see how much paint

these kids can get on their hands, face and anywhere else

but the canvas. If you don’t have your young ones signed

up yet, bring five dollars to the parts store and get their

name on the list. Seats are limited and they are going fast.

Make sure those who are signed up wear old clothes or

bring a large shirt to cover their good clothes.

June Site of the

Month

Jeremiah and Lisa White have been working diligently to get their campsite and camper in order. Their Coachmen fifth wheel is the centerpeice of this site that sits on the creekbend in Hobo Junction. The Whites have remodeled the inside of their coach, planted a beautiful flower garden and always have their American Flag flying. Thank you Jeremiah, Lisa, Zoey, and Zander White for working so hard to help make Poor Farmer’s beautiful. Enjoy the Summer!

July 22nd – 25th, 2020

There is a buzz at the Poor Farmer’s Blacksmith Shop about a new

activity brewing for 2021. It involves raw steel and fire. To be

honest, the way this year is going; blacksmithing is a skill you might

want to have for the future. For those who are interested in more

details, there are different ways to keep up with the news. Of course

you can keep reading The Monthly Chatter for the most up-2-date

camping news. You can follow Poor Farmer’s Facebook page OR

you can like Grandpa’s Forge Facebook page (link below).

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1536478679766314

Tucked away behind the Chapel shelter is a

wonderful oasis of flowers, yard signs, LED

globes and the smell of delicious meat

smoking in a spaceship. Jerry and Christy

have designed a campsite to really be

appreciated.

Having a creekside campsite has its pros and

cons. We all know what the con is when

mother nature decides to dump buckets of

rain. However, 99.99% of the time, this

picture represents the pros.

We would like to send our thanks to Jerry

and Christy for their efforts and creativity in

design. For their hard work, they are

rewarded with a month of free dumps and

most of all… bragging rights.

A special thank you to Jim Foster for donating this awesome work of

art to the Poor Farmer’s RV. You can see this art at the entrance to the

Part Store. Jim and Barb host The Annual Woodcarvers Roundup every July. This year the dates are July 22nd thru the 25th.

They bring other talented woodcarvers to Poor Farmer’s to display a

plethora of skill and creativity. These artisans are here not only to show off, but also to educate. If you are interested, they will have classes, a

store, and many different types of woodworking… and yes, the

chainsaw carver is scheduled to return.

Grandparents Weekend July 17th -19th

I would like to give a huge thank you to Ken,

Lynn, Steve, Thomas, Jaiden, Preston, Mikey,

and Memphis for all your help with the electric

upgrade in the pull-thru. This job had it’s fair

share of issues; mostly caused by yours truly.

“Oh, that poor fire ring!” Maybe next time they

will leave the boss in the office. Your hard work

and knowledge are very appreciated. Also,

thanks to Bruce and Merle for the refreshments.

The Poor Farmer’s Service Department has been taking such good care of

our customer’s RVs, we dicided to get them another useful tool. This

“Carryall 6” cart has just what they need to service your units out and

about the campground. It has a waterproof area for tools and parts, a ladder

rack on top (for safety), and doors for when the weather turns ugly. Thanks

to Marty, Jeff, Lynn, Merle and Thomas for all you do to make sure our

campers are well taken care of.

Come out to the Darke

County Fairgrounds between

July 9th and July 12th to see

tractors, engines and other

farm equipment that was

essential in building America

to what it is today. You can

also enjoy food vendors, a

flea market and art vendors.

If anything went right in 2020, it was the Annual Poor Farmer’s RV Cruise-In.

We had a total of 56 show cars and two golf carts. Harold Stover provided the

music and since we didn’t have a food vendor, I passed out bottles of water

and Jim’s Pizza menus.

There were some absolutely beautiful vehicles that came out. Bob Hoover

was awarded the “Best in Show” with his very reflective Ford Mustang.

Thanks to all who brought out their antique car, muscle car, hot rod and truck.

Okay Campers!!! I know; mostly because of your Facebook posts, that you have been a bit

cavalier with these guidelines. As Americans our Freedoms come with responsibilities. At Poor

Farmer’s we need to take extra precautions during this time to prevent anyone from contracting

any sickness, whether it is the common cold or COVID-19.

So please, if you are having a gathering, such as a world renowned Rib Cook-Off, a delectable

Crab Boil or even just an outing with extended family… make sure you provide a clean

environment with plenty of opportunity for spacing, an ample supply of hand sanitizer and soap

and keep a good eye on the kiddos. Thank you and live safe.
