Use of Dow Corning® 993 cartridges: 310ml or 600ml

Please respect the following instructions in order to use Dow Corning® 993 in cartridges

Dow Corning® 993 in 310mlCartridges and 600mlcartridges

Equipment to be used in the manufacturingof Dow Corning® 993

1. Remove cartridge from the box anddetach top. The cartridge already

contains the A-compound (base).Contents 300grams.

2. Insert cartridge housing into the jig w ith the p is ton facingdownwards until the cartridgefirmly touches the base of the jig.(Otherwise there is a danger thatthe piston is squeezed out of thecartridge housing during the mixingprocess.)

3. Mixing A+B compounds: Please take one of the supplied catalyst tubes(B compound). The actual cartridge contains 300 grams of the A-compound, while the tube contains 30 grams of the B-compound (catalyst),resulting in a mix ration of 10:1 (by weight).

PLEASE NOTE: Only use one tube of catalys t for the 300 gram cartridges!

4. Open the tube(s) and using the supplied tube tool squeeze out all of thecatalyst into the opened cartridge. Ensure that the catalyst tube iscompletely emptied in order to achieve the correct mixing ratio.

5. MIXING: Attach the mixing rod to a standard electric drill with variable speed control. Insert the mixing rod into the cartridge until it touches thebottom of the cartridge (piston). Insert the mixing rod at low speed until itreaches the bottom of the cartridge. Clamp the jig using your feet and mixat a speed of 150 – 200 RPM for 60 – 80 seconds.

Make sure the mixing rod is fully inserted into the cartridge and do not performrapid up-and-down movements because this encourages air entrapment. If the mixing speed is too high the resulting friction will heat the material. Thiscan accelerate curing times. If the mixing speed is too low the mix will not reachuniform consistency. Therefore always comply with usage instructions andconsult Dow Corning if in doubt.

6. Mixing has completed satisfactorily when the material shows a uniform

black colour and there are no streaks visible in the base/catalyst mix.

Testing mix appearance: Refer to butterfly test

Apply a bead of material onto a white sheet op paper (DIN A4).Fold the paper in the middle and press it together

Pull the paper apart and check whether the material has a uniform blackappearance.PLEASE NOTE: if white streaks are visible the cartridge has not been mixedproperly.

7. Reduce mixing speed and remove the mixing rod from the cartridge. Cleanit immediately using industrial absorbent paper or similar to prevent curing. You can also use the Dow Corning® cleaner R40.

8. The cartridge can now be removed from the jig by releasing the clamping

device.

9. After mixing place the cartridge top on the cartridge housing and seal bywrapping adhesive tape all around.

10. Remove the screw cap on top of the cartridge in order to accommodate theflat nozzle. Screw the flat nozzle onto the top of the cartridge.

11. APPLICATION: Insert cartridge into a manual or battery powered gun andapply the material within a maximum period of 10 minutes. (This timeperiod may be reduced if the material is too warm (see above.)
