CARLSWALD HOUSE PREPARATORY | JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2016 | NEWSLETTER 1 NEWSLETTER FROM THE DESK OF MR TAGG Dear Parents. Welcome to our first newsletter for 2016. The term is well under way now and the children have settled in and are happy. I would like to formally welcome all our new families to CHP and 345 CW and VV. It is so good to have you all with us and I hope that you will be happy here and that your children will be happy here too. I wanted to share with you our newly written Vision and Mission for Carlswald House Prep, which we finalised at the end of last year. These two paragraphs really define who we are as a Preparatory School and what we promise and aspire to be. While the Vision and Mission relate more to the Prep School, 345 plays a vital part in laying the foundation on which to build this vision. It is as important for all our 345 children and parents to know what our Vision and Mission is so you know where your child is going and what role he or she plays in the nursery school.

NEWSLETTER FROM THE DESK OF MR TAGG

Dear Parents.

Vision and Mission of Carlswald House Preparatory School Vision To become the school of choice in the heart of Midrand, offering a family orientated, academic, sporting and culturally rich environment. We will be renowned for employing teachers of an impeccable standard thus facilitating the equipping our learners with superior foundation skills, critical thinking ability and a well-developed moral compass through the use of a child-centred, best education practice combined with vital individual support, enabling learners to develop to their full potential and thrive as citizens in our community. Mission Statement At CHP, we aim to provide a stimulating, child-orientated learning environment in a tranquil, country setting. We focus on the child as a whole, recognising the individuality of the child, respecting the diverse range of cultures we are privileged to have on campus as well as providing specific support responsive to the needs of the individual, whether it be through differentiated lessons, varied learning styles and specialised support. We strive, through the employment of professional, dedicated and passionate teaching staff, to build morally responsible individuals by instilling the values of honesty, compassion, integrity and respect for self and others. Our children are developed intellectually, socially, emotionally, technologically and physically through the many channels of inclusive education including physical education, cultural development, academic focus, critical thinking and the development of emotional intelligence. We understand the importance of clear, open and regular communication through a number of channels and we focus on ensuring that our role-players and stake holders involved in the development of our children are included in the education process, instilling a feeling of belonging and a sense of ownership of the processes employed to educate our children. Everything we do at 345 and Carlswald House Prep will center around these two paragraphs. However, for 345 and CHP as a family of schools, we cannot achieve this without the wholehearted support of the staff, the parents and the children. If we all buy into this vision then, without doubt, we will achieve and continue to achieve what we set out to do and our schools will grow and find success in every step forward that we take. Enjoy this newsletter and have a wonderful term! Regards Stewart Tagg

GRADE R

Our first time at DNT for 2016 and what a fun time we had. We were allowed to build anything we wanted and the girls made a huge tower with teacher Freyia.

We are so excited to practice writing our names on our white boards. Being in grade R makes us big children now and we can’t wait to learn more.

Writing our names…

Outside play is still the best time of the day. We get to run and have fun outside with our friends. Playing in the sandpit and on the swing. And for the boys, soccer will never be just an idea.

We were so excited to sit behind brand new desks.

We have chosen what we would like to achieve this term and we are motivated to succeed.

Choosing 4 of our favourite provinces is quite a challenging activity when we live in such a beautiful country!

WOW we travelled the country without even moving from our chair! We really can’t believe that Google took photos of our school!

We took a look at ourselves to decide on what we thought “was our best feature”

We participated in a couple of activities to teach us the importance of persistence!

Learning the “ins and outs” of a circle thinking map!

WOW
