Al Hosn Gas has undertaken the project of developing the Shah Arab field sour
gas reservoir. This program has been designated as the Shah Gas Development
(SGD) Project. The Field is a large anticline oriented along a NE-SW axis and is
located 210 km southwest of Abu Dhabi City.
The SGD Project represents a new era in gas development in Abu Dhabi. The
sheer size of the facility and equipment, in addition to the high technology that is
used to process the gas and the complexity in constructing such large facility
will set a new benchmark in the industry. The facilities will be designed to
process approximately 1,000 MMSCFD of feed gas. The facilities are located in
the Liwa Western Region and will play a major role in the economy of the
region by providing attractive career and training opportunities for UAE
nationals and developing local supporting industries and businesses.
It was my responsibility as a QC welding inspector to review the Inspection and

Test Plan, Welding procedures, Procedure Qualification Records, Welder
Qualification certificates, NDT Procedures and Destructive testing procedures,
PWHT etc. as per the code requirements.
I Performed routine surveillance, inspection , monitoring, auditing & assurance
of Contractor’s site activities(Fabrication and Welding, NDT, Coating and
Painting) in accordance with the Projects and Contractors, specifications, ITP
and Quality Plans. I ensured all the personnel employed and operating in
welding and NDE activities were duly skilled and qualified in accordance with
the applicable specifications, codes and regulations. I interpreted and evaluated
of NDT Results, witnessing Hydro test, Pneumatic test and Post test Re-
instatement. Being Conversant with International Codes & Standards like
ASME, ASTM, AWS, API, ARAMCO, QP, SHELL / PDO and AGIP
Specifications. I ensured all pre-construction activities and qualification trials
are witnessed and approved as necessary. Ensured the Inspection & Test Plan of
each activity is fulfilled and “hold points” of the company are completed in due
time.
I did audit, inspected equipment of Contractors, advised and assisted Contractors
in maintaining and upgrading their equipment to ensure high quality job. I
carried out trouble shooting, Supervision of Piping Fabrication, Welding,
Mechanical and Painting jobs (Construction & Maintenance) in line with Project
requirements. I reviewed and commented upon Contractors daily inspection

Finally I raised non-compliance reports where applicable and ensured
satisfactorily closed out. I carried out repair follow-up, Conforming line check
as per P&ID, NDT clearance, Punch List preparation, followed up the project
final completion.
Receivals inspection and material certificates review as per project
specifications. Maintenance coordination with the store and Receivals staff to
ensure effective maintenance and preparation of material traceability.
