TRANSCRIPT
INTRODUCTION:Defibrillation is a process which an electrical device called a defibrillator sends Electronic shock to the heart to stop an arrhythmia resulting in the return of productive heart rhythm.Defibrillators can be external ,Tran venous or implanted ,depending on the Type of device used or needed.
NEED OF DEFIBRILLATOR:• The heart is able to perform its important pumping
function only through preciously synchronies action of heart musul the rapid spreads of action potential over the surface of atria causes this to chamber of the heart contract together & pump blood through the atria –ventricular values into the ventricle.
• After a critical time delay the powerful ventricle muscle are synchronies activated to the pump blood through the pulmonary &systematic circulatory system.
• A condition in which this necessary synchronism is lost is known as fibrillation
An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a self-contained defibrillator device designed to be movable easily and simple to use.
An automated external defibrillator contains a battery, a control computer, and electrodes. When the electrodes are stuck onto the patient, the control computer will assess the patient, checking the rhythm of their heart. It will then charge itself to an appropriate power level and tell users that the person needs to be shocked.
• Fibrillation of atrial muscle is called atrial fibrillation and fibrillation of ventricle fibrillation.
Types to defibrillation
1. Ac defibrillation
2. dc defibrillation
3. automated external defibrillator
4.Implantable cardioverter defibrillator
Ac defibrillator
The application of an electrical shock to resynchronize the heart is sometimes called as counter shock if the patient does not respond the burst is repeated until defibrillation occur this method of counter shock is known a ac defibrillation.
Dc defibrillation
the capacitor is charged to high dc voltages and then rapidly discharge through electrode across the chest of the patient called as dc defibrillation
Automated external defibrillator
An autotomated external defibrillator (AED) is a self-contained defibrillator device designed to be
movable easily and simple to use. An automated external defibrillator contains a battery, a
control computer, and electrodes. When the electrodes are stuck onto the patient, the control computer will assess the patient, checking the rhythm of their heart. It will then charge itself to an appropriate power level and tell users that the person needs to be shocked.
AED Advantages
• ALS providers do not need to be on scene.
• Remote, adhesive defibrillator pads are used.
• Efficient transmission of electricity
Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• AEDs come in various models.
• Some operator interaction required.
• A specialized computer recognizes heart rhythms that require defibrillation.
