Process of Trainer Development

I. Master Trainers Training:A. Selection of PMTs from 13 statesB. Training of PMTs / MRPsC. Conduct of ToT by PMTs (Eligible for MT/ MRP Certificate)

II. Conduct of Training for SFTI Trainers

III. Training of Field staff

Challenges

• General Attitude towards Capacity Building.

• Availability of Trainers for the Training Institutes

• Availability of MTs for mentoring, review and supervision of PMTs– Honorarium low– DoPT rates for MT not acceptable

• Lack of incentives for trainers in SFTIs

Enabling Factors

• Appraising Senior State officials on importance of Capacity Building worked

• Training Allowance for SFTI Faculty on the lines of Central Govt. Institutions

• Dispel perception “Once a trainer – always a trainer”• Faculty Development is a continuous process- expose

Finalised Training Capacity of 1600 for Foresters and Forest Guards in 26 SFTIs

Training Capacity of 1600 finalised.

Placement of Faculty in SFTIs

Persuade the state authorities to fill the faculty positions in SFTIs

Constant persuasion with the states has improved the faculty strength in SFTIs of all states except Jharkhand and Bihar.

Innovative learning technology / methods

E –learning Lecture transmission through Edusat initiative/ Skype in Madhya Pradesh is being adopted for other states

Improved Training of frontline forest staff

Introduction of improved training for frontline forest staff at the level of Foresters and Forest Guards

Foresters / Forest Guards training started in Kerala, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Mizoram. In 5 states, it will get initiated by July 2015 and in rest 4 states improved training will start by Jan 2016.
