Company Overview:

Universal Energy Australia Pty Ltd was established in 2014.

The company directors came together from two already established companies, Universal Commissioning Services and Energy Dynamix Australia, the merger has given Universal Energy the ability to provide a more diverse service to a wider range of clients. UEA holds long term agreements and shared resources with partners in both the sub-continent and Europe.

It is our mission to perform a wide variety of work related to many areas of the electrical industry with our main focus being in the area of HV/LV testing, commissioning, and maintenance work to the highest standard whilst at all times working to the most stringent of safety standards.

We pride ourselves on our ability to provide a service for large clients, whilst also being able to deliver the same quality to smaller clients in a wide range of industries.

The directors have over 70 years combined experience in the industry, and with a network of the very best electrical engineers, protection technicians, and various other roles we can provide a complete solution for any HV/LV project large or small.

SAFETY, ENVIRONMENTAL & QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

OHS Management System:

Universal Energy Australia subscribes to a zero harm at work policy. We see value in having effective management systems in place to ensure our employees and sub-contractors return home each day injury free, that workplace injuries are managed to minimise lost time and return employees to work as soon as possible.

Our occupational, health, safety Management System has been designed and implemented in line with the requirements of:

• Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems AS/NZ 4801:2001

Environmental Management System:

Our Environmental Management System has been designed and implemented in line with the requirements of:

• Environmental Management Systems ISO 14001:2004

Quality Management System:

UEA currently adopts a quality management system to assist with the streamlining of the management of maintenance requests. This has led to a greater client satisfaction and efficiency by eliminating time-consuming and ineffective methods. In addition, the quality information stored within our system allows managers to recognise and address recurring problems; identifying potential service issues and helping them make informed decisions about long-term maintenance or capital improvements.

Our Quality Management System has been designed and implemented in line with the requirements of:

• Quality Management Systems ISO 9001:2008.

Management System Overview:

We recognise that the client has specific expectations which must be delivered through an

efficient, effective and proven process. Our project reporting system is designed to monitor

and report progress to ensure the most rigorous building program is met.

Our systems ensure that the client is involved in the logistics of project delivery and the

decisions that are made during the process. Our systems are transparent and take into

consideration parameters such as:

• life cycle costing

• equipment delivery

Our systems rely on continual review procedures, client liaison during the life of the project,

and effective and prompt communication of any issues that may arise. We set out to minimise

disruption to any area of site construction. This is accomplished through liaison with

operations staff and taking on board their requirements and the need to make the

construction phase of the project as risk free as possible.

Specific equipment related sheets determining the correct scope of work and service

required are utilised for each and every maintenance visit. Each sheet is completed during

the maintenance visit and the scope of work followed to ensure a consistent outcome.

SECTION THREE:

DIRECTOR PROFILES: James Kavanagh

James has been involved in the high-energy testing industry for 33 years. After immigrating

to Australia, James was employed by some of the largest electrical contractors in the state,

where he has held senior positions in engineering and services. Since joining the UEA team

in 2014, James has assumed site managerial positions and has become a key member in

project delivery.

Paul Ledger

Paul has been part of the testing and commissioning industry in Australia and overseas now

for 25 years, Paul has worked on many of the largest mining and Oil and Gas projects in

Western Australia in senior roles of supervision. Paul is now an integral part of the UEA

management team, Paul’s skills and industry experience are instrumental in his ability to

manage some of our largest projects.

Simon Williams

Simon moved to Perth from Tasmania in 1998 after working for the Hydro Electrical

Commission, and has 23 years ‘experience in the industry. Simon’s skills and sound

technical knowledge of High Voltage and protection systems has seen him rise to some

senior positions on some of the largest Mining, and Oil/Gas, project’s in Western Australia

and overseas.

Daryl Wade

Daryl immigrated to Australia in 2005 from Ireland; he has over 16 year’s industry experience.

He began his UEA career in 2014 and has gone on to hold project manager positions on site.

He has worked on some of the largest projects in Australia, his technical approach and

management skills have seen him become a key member at UEA. Daryl has begun the

process of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in project management from Curtin University.

Seamless scheduling by our co-ordinators ensures all our Clients routine servicing and

Project Management and Supervision:

UEA employs full time project managers and site supervisors. Our project management team

have undergone extensive training and are experienced across the full spectrum of electrical

services and installations. They are entrusted with total project control from conception to

completion.

The project management team is responsible for:

• overseeing the engineering review and equipment approval

• managing the drafting process

• equipment procurement

• sub- contractor engagement

• SHE & QA requirements

• project finances

• liaising with onsite supervision and labour

• coordinating the electrical installation with the client and services sub-trades

• communicating and co-operating with the design team

• managing the commissioning process in conjunction with our specialist team

• supervising the transition from project completion to service and

maintenance.

Our single point of contact approach results in clear and concise project communication and

efficient dissemination of project information. The project management team is supported by

our internal project administration department responsible for project document control and

SHE & QA documentation. Our stringent quality assurance system results in high quality,

consistent outcomes for all projects undertaken by the firm regardless of size, location or

complexity.

Commissioning:

UEA has developed a dedicated internal commissioning and project completion department

staffed with highly skilled project services professionals. The commissioning team test and

inspect the electrical installation to the highest standard.

The commissioning process begins upon finalisation of equipment selections. A

comprehensive commissioning plan that includes quality checks, test plans and performance

records is assembled well in advance of project completion.

Our team of skilled commissioning staff have a broad knowledge of high voltage equipment,

substations, switchboards and protection systems, we are able to assist with input on

complex protection system designs and purchasing requirements.

Critical and After-Hours Callouts:

UEA has a track record in meeting callout deadlines. We understand that emergency calls are

critical and in many cases, can cost our clients time and money, so it’s imperative to us to meet

your needs in this area. As part of our critical callout service we provide accurate reporting of

the fault, the location, the implications and the costs of rectification. All our technicians are

trained in basic cost estimation. For call outs falling outside normal working hours, the customer

would dial our dedicated after hours’ number and register an emergency call out.

Administration:

Our sophisticated accounting and administration process allows us to report on any particular

item or sequence within a project, at any stage of the project life cycle. Comprehensive

administrative procedures have been developed to ensure that all administrative duties

including document control are maintained to meet industry leading standards. This also

includes maintaining consistency in project delivery.

Information Technology:

• UEA has a dedicated IT team who keep the company up to date with latest

technology and software.

• All UEA employees are trained in the use of the latest equipment and

SECTION SIX

TRAINING

Training Philosophy:

UEA has a strong commitment to ongoing employee training.

Each year we conduct a training needs analysis in consultation with our employees, from which

a training plan is developed. Our employees are educated and updated in safe work procedures

on a monthly basis and are given the opportunity to contribute to the creation of procedures and

solutions. Individual training and licensing records are kept for all employees and are kept current

as part of our quality management system.

The scope of training courses attended by employees at UEA is extensive. It encompasses the

breadth of skills required in order to complete work to the highest of industry standards.

All of our employees are trained in the latest technology and are proficient in the use of Omicron, Doble and Megger equipment. Universal Energy Australia can also provide and develop inspection and test plans for any application. We have highly trained high voltage switching personnel and lock out tag out officers for all projects large or small.
