Place track on roof.

Be sure to aligntrack holes toholes in baseand in roof.

Install bolts and small black nylon washers into track and into roof.

NOTE: Do notuse thesewashers onbolts at eachend of tracks.

SECOND TRACK INSTALLATION:If you have not installed the second track,repeat the entire instruction beginning at step 1.

From inside your shell,attach the cap nut.

Load limits are determined byshell roof strength. Contact yourshell manufacturer for details.

Some deflection may occur withany significant load.

Serious off-highway drivingmay also cause deflection.

LIMITED WARRANTYYakima Products (“Yakima”) will repair or replace merchandise which proves defective in materials and/or workmanship. The limited warranty is effective forthree years from the date of purchase. The limited warranty is applicable only if the Fit List and instructions are followed and the products are used properly. Tighten thebolts throughthe track fromabove.A helpfulfriend willmake thiseasier.

Apply a gener-ous amount ofsilicone sealantinto the drilledholes.

WARNING: Direct contact of uncured sealant irritates eyesand may irritate skin. Overexposure to vapor may irritateeyes, nose and throat. Avoid eye and skin contact. Use withadequate ventilation. Do not handle contact lenses withsealant on hands. In case of eye contact, flush with water for15 minutes. Obtain medical attention. In case of skin contact,remove from skin and flush with water. Sealant releasesacetic acid (vinegar-like odor) during cure.

Place large, whitenylon washer onto

holes to whichsilicone has beenapplied.

Note: Washer should beflat against drilled hole.

Slide nut plates from yourtower kit into track(2 per tower/4 per track).

Attach end caps beforeattaching tracks to roof.

Align tracks and positiontrack ends according toinformation in thetrack fit sheet.

Outline rear hole through track.

Track base is loose and can slide.Be sure it is aligned to track.

Remove track. Punch center of markfor drilling.

DO NOT DRILL DEEPER THAN 1/4". Use a drillstop to prevent drilling through vehicle’s interiorliner. If you do not have a stop, use tape andmark bit 1/4" from tip.

Wear goggles when drilling!

Drill1/8"pilot hole

Drill 9/32" hole

Carefully blowaway debris

Seal edgesof hole withenamel basepaint.Allow to dry.

Attachsoft rubberwashersontoPlusnuts®.

Note: Washershould be flatagainstPlusnut® head.

Attach Plusnut®and washerto toolas shown.

Attach nutwith washerontoPlusnut®tool.

Setinto hole.

Tighten nut on tool using 1/2" wrench and adjustableend or 7/16" wrench.

Remove flaring tool:Use adjustable end \wrenchto unscrew post from Plusnut®.

Reassemble tool for next Plusnut®.

Place track on roofaligning hole.

Install boltloosely.

Outline front hole.

Pivot the trackto install front Plusnut®Loosen bolt if necessary.

Center punch, pilot, drill, clear, seal, install Plusnut® INTO FRONT HOLE.(Steps 4 through 10)

Neverpunch or drillthrough track.

Install front boltthrough track intoPlusnut®.

READ YOUR TRACK FIT SHEETfor your vehicle’scorrect drilling points.

Carefully mark and drill only the correctholes for your specific vehicle.

Loosen bolts and remove trackfrom vehicle.

Center punch, pilot, drill, clear, seal, installPlusnuts® (Steps 4 through 10).

Apply a generous amount of siliconesealant into the Plusnut® opening.

WARNING: Direct contact of uncured sealant irritateseyes and may irritate skin. Over exposure to vapor mayirritate eyes, nose and throat. Avoid eye and skincontact. Use with adequate ventilation. Do not handlecontact lenses with sealant on hands. In case of eyecontact, flush with water for 15 minutes. Obtain medicalattention. In case of skin contact, remove from skin andflush with water. Sealant releases acetic acid (vinegar-like odor) during cure.

Slide nut plates from your tower kit intotrack (2 per tower /4 per track).

Attach end caps before attaching tracks to roof.

With track on car, attach bolts and hard washersthrough track into Plusnuts®.

Do not use washerson bolts at each end of tracks.

NOTE: There may be extra Plusnuts®because not all holes in the tracks will be used.

You may need to removeyour vehicle’s factorycrossbars and slats.

Check to see if LandingPad location will causeinterference. Refer toyour vehicle’s owner’smanual for details onfactory rack removal.

RECOMMENDED TOOL:Measuring Tape

Remove covers fromLanding Pads.

Use existing nut-plateswhen possible. Four pertrack are required.

• Factory crossbars oraccessories may need to beremoved.

• IF THERE ARE FEWER than 4plates per track, installadditional plates.

If you need to install additional plates, youmay need to remove end cap.NOTE: Refer to vehicle owner’s manual fordetails on end cap removal.

• Loosen screw

• Remove cap.

Refer to YAKIMA Control Tower instructions for important warning and load limitations, and YAKIMA’s limited warranty.

Remove factory crossbarsand slats.

Install screw with washerand spacer into pad.

NOTE:If screws seem too short andare not engaging the plate,take out screw, remove plasticspacer, use washer only.

Position the plates for best fitinside the tracks.

Engage the screw withwrench supplied. Do notfully tighten.

Replace end caps.

Arrange Landing Pads on the tracks in theapproximate positions where Control Towerswill be attached.

Align screws in LandingPads with plates.

CROSSBAR SPREAD:The distance between the Yakima

crossbars is determined by theaccessories you wish to carry.

The Crossbar Spread Table (Fit List orCatalog) will tell you how much crossbar

spread your accessories require.

LOAD LOCATION:

For ease of loading, consider where themost convenient placement of your load

would be before completing theinstallation.

USE CAUTION WHENOPENING YOUR HATCH.On some vehicles, hatchinterference withaccessories is unavoidable.

NOTE:Do not fully tighten.

Final adjustments will bemade after ControlTower is installed.

Installation Tips:

In some cases, it maybe easier to assembleplates, screws, andbases before slidingonto tracks.

Before you begin installation, your vehicle must have Landing Pads installed.

Landing Pads are vehicle specific pads and are purchased separately.Install your Landing Pads before continuing with these instructions.

Slide two towers ontoeach crossbar. Do nottighten.

Push end caps onto the ends ofthe crossbars.

Be careful to keep the bars horizontal; the loosetowers could slide from the bar and fall.

Lower Towers onto Landing Pads. • Control Tower cannot seatproperly into Landing Padunless the cover is open.

Using the wrench provided,loosen towers.

To open cover, pryand pull forward.

• Open cover to Control Towerand lower into Landing Pad.

SET BARS AND TOWERS ONTO CAR:

TEST THEINSTALLATION:

Push up on bar end totest installation. Grab

the bar near the towersand pull back and forth.

IF THE TOWER SLIDES OR CROSSBAR CAN ROTATE, CHECK TOWER FORTIGHTNESS AND RETIGHTEN SCREWS.

SKS® Lock Cores are optional.Refer to Lock Core instructions for

installation.

CROSSBAR SPREAD:The distance between the Yakima

crossbars is determined by theaccessories you wish to carry.

The Crossbar Spread Table (Fit List orCatalog) will tell you how much crossbar

spread your accessories require.

LOAD LOCATION:FOR EASE OF LOADING, CONSIDERWHERE THE MOST CONVENIENT

THE INSTALLATION.

If you have not been instructed to fully tighten LandingPads, do so now. Tighten hex screws through the slotsin the Control Towers.

Push down and fully tighten Towers. Firmly close covers until bothsides snap.

Installation Tips:• Measure equal distances

from front towers.

USE CAUTION WHENOPENING YOUR HATCH.On some vehicles, hatchinterference with accessoriesis unavoidable.

Enfiler deux piedssur chaque barretransversale. Nepas serrer.

Enfoncer les bouchons d’extrémité surles bouts des barres.

Faire attention de garder les barres à l’horizontale:n’étant pas serrés, les pieds pourraient tomber.

Déposer les pieds sur les patins. • Le pied ne peut pas s’emboîtercorrectement sur le patin si lecapot n’est pas ouvert.

À l’aide de la clé fournie,desserrer les pieds.

Pour ouvrir le capot, écarter lescôtés et tirer vers soi.

• Ouvrir le capot du pied et emboîterle pied dans le patin.
