O.K. Foods Sees Great Results with Switch to Cantrell Wing Segmenter
Cantrell’s Wing Segmenter
is designed to make all wing
cuts in one place and do it
more accurately, at high line
speeds, on birds of various
sizes and with less labor.
It is capable of processing
up to 170 wings per minute
per processing
line and can run
with a cone line
or in an off-line
application.
The Wing
Segmenter
properly orients
the wing at any line
speed for accuracy
on each individual cut.
The shackle transfer
eliminates misfeeds.
The O.K. Foods, Inc. plant in Heavener, OK was not
satisfied with the wing cuts obtained from their wing
segmenting process.
So in late August, the company installed the Cantrell CWCS-8400 Wing
Segmenter and began seeing a marked difference. O.K. Foods, headquartered
in Fort Smith, AR, is one of the world’s largest fully-integrated chicken
producers. Operating for more than 70 years, the company employs more
than 3,000 workers in the U.S.
“We have been running the
Cantrell Wing Segmenter for
over four months,” says Stan
Sharp, O.K. Foods Director
of Operations for Heavener.
“We’ve seen a difference. The
cuts are 97 percent plus.”
O.K. Foods runs a double cone
line at a rate of 36 birds per
minute. This produces 144 cut
wings per minute or 8,640
wings per hour.
Sharp notes several features
of the CWCS-8400 Wing
Segmenter have improved
production at his plant.
“The shackle line allows the wing rounder to easily place the wing in the
shackle without any trouble at all,” Sharp says. “Also, slipping the one blade
out for sharpening is easy and sharpening the blade once during a shift is all
that has to be done. And the labor reduction and the upgrade of cuts made it
an easy decision (to use the Cantrell Wing Segmenter).”

Model No. CWCS-8400Wing Segmenter
The Cantrell Wing Segmenter offers fl exibility, accuracy and ease of use to your operation.
The machine is capable of processing up to 170 wings per minute on a processing line or as
a standalone application. The Wing Segmenter properly orients the wing at any line speed for
accuracy on each individual cut.
The Segmenter is designed to allow simple adjustments during operation, as well as easy
access for blade replacement. The shackle transfer eliminates misfeeds.
The CWCS-8400 greatly reduces energy consumption and water usage, providing optimal
operating effi ciency. In addition, the open design of the machine makes cleaning and access
easy. The Cantrell Wing Segmenter CWCS-8400 is patent pending.
U.S. Patent No. 8,517,805
When run in cone line operations, the only person
who touches the wing is the “wing rounder” who cuts
it off the bird; a labor savings for processors. When
configured with a cone line, the track and shackles run
in front of the wing rounders who hang the wings in
the shackle. The shackle line is routed overhead to the
cutting head of the machine which is usually placed
on one side of the room, solving the problem
of transporting the wings away from the cone line.
At Cantrell, we have had great results with our Wing
Segmenter and would like the opportunity to show
you how the CWCS-8400 can improve your wing
processing operation.
Cantrell offers over 2,600 parts to our customers. Contact us at [email protected] for additional information.

is engineered to meet a customer’s specifi c
needs, while providing optimal box fl ow and
meeting quality standards.
The Lined Empty Box Delivery System also
controls spacing and indexing of the boxes to
scaling systems. The system also manages
box accumulation and stores boxes along the
conveyor system at the point where product is
placed in the boxes.
