ldquoApril Showers bring May Flowersrdquo has never been truer given these past couple of weeks
May is a special month We celebrate two holidays honoring two sets of extraordinary people
both have made sacrifices for their families and for their country Motherrsquos Day is an extra
special day where we show our Motherrsquos how much we love and appreciate them Our
Mothers are not always the ones who gave us life but can be the women in our lives who have
guided protected and loved us These women can include grandmothers aunts sisters
friends and even neighbors
Memorial Day is another day we take to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for
our country Honoring our fallen military service members is a long standing tradition and
one important to our nation Our dedicated military gives us freedoms and privileges unique to
our country and we are grateful for them We wish you a safe and happy month of May
As you move through the month be sure to check out google calendar at

Mastering skills of independence such as working independently from a schedule creating reminders without help and
writing clearly can go a long way to increasing independence and even our childrsquos time in an inclusion setting Getting to a job or
class on time understanding instructors and articulating needs clearly are necessary for everyone regardless of ability There are
many apps (see below) that can assist in developing these skills to reach long term goals
Taking adequate time to prepare by working on those skills now and planning for transition early can make for a much
smoother process and reduce anxiety Life skills are for everyone
Itrsquos Break Time The goal of the app is to help young adults understand what taking a break means when at a job site or

literacy assignments independently Typing on a device while using the app assists with word prediction spell check dictionary

very helpful for assisting students who struggle with written expression (Available for both IOS and Android FREE)
