BRITISH COUNCIL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD Cambridge School, Noida received the coveted 'British Council International School Award' on 5 th
December, 2018, in a glittering ceremony at The Leela Ambience, Delhi. This award, accredited
for the period 2018-2021, is in recognition of the 'International Work' undertaken by the school and
its amalgamation into the school curriculum and ethos.

GLOBAL CONNECT In continuation with our school’s endeavour to provide students a platform for international exposure, the students of Classes IX and XI interacted with students from Egypt via video conferencing on 19th December 2018. The students had thought provoking discussions on
education, faith and community. This international education initiative taken by the school was a great learning experience for the students.

INTACH HERITAGE QUIZ 2018 NATIONAL SEMI FINAL ROUND
On 5th December, 2018 the National Semi Final Round of the INTACH HERITAGE QUIZ 2018
was organized by INTACH INDIA, DELHI at 71, Lodi Estate, New Delhi 110003. Saurabh
Mahapatra of Class X C and Shashwat Mehrotra of Class X E, (winners of Delhi-NCR round)
participated with 21 other teams from different parts of the country. The team secured the position
of 3rd runner up in the semi-final round. In the prize distribution ceremony the winners were given
certificates and prizes.

INTERACT CLUB ACTIVITIES
VISIT TO Dr. B.R AMBEDKAR HOSPITAL
On 21st December 2018, the members of Interact Club, Cambridge School, Noida, paid a visit to
Dr. B.R Ambedkar Hospital, Sec-30 Noida, along with the Teacher in charge Ms. Roomki Mitra.
Juice Cartons which were collected from the students of the school and get well soon cards were
distributed in the different wards where the students interacted with the patients. It was an
enriching experience for them and a good exposure too.

VISIT TO INDIA INTERNATIONAL CENTRE
On 21st December, 2018, six students from the Interact Club accompanied by the Teacher in
charge Ms. Kirti Sasan went to the India International Centre for an event organized by the Toy
Bank. The theme of the event was, what role a toy plays in developing a child’s mental, creative
and eye and hand coordination. Around 25 schools attended the event out of which 17 schools
gave their presentations in the form of poem recitation, skit, dance and theatre.
Toy Bank has spread its branches all over India and has around more than 4000 toy libraries
across India. Certificates and a trophy were presented to the Interactors. It was a great

experience for all the Interactors as they learned a novel way to serve the community better and
thus spread joy and happiness.

NO IDLING CAMPAIGN
Lung Care Foundation , an NGO committed for ”care and cure of 2.6 billion lungs in the country”
along with Bal Bharati Public School had organized a “No Idling Campaign” on 19 th December,
2018 to spread awareness amongst the parents and drivers of private/public vehicles on the ill
effects of idling around the schools.
To support the cause, students of Classes IX & X of the Interact Club of Cambridge School, Noida
positioned themselves outside the school and climbed buses of different routes and requested the
drivers to keep the ignition off when not required in order to reduce the emissions from the
vehicles.

DONATION OF WOOLLEN CLOTHES IN SLUM AREA.
On 26th December, 2018, ten students of classes IX and XI accompanied by Interact Club Teacher
in charges Ms. Mamta Rishi and Ms. Kirti Sasan went to the slum area located in Sector 44, Noida
(U.P.) to donate woollen clothes. The woollen clothes were collected by Interact Club members
from students of the school and teaching staff. This attempt to help the people may not alleviate
all their problems, but may decrease their sufferings to some extent.

Spreading cheer among the poor
LINGUISTIC DIVERSITY ‘BHASHA SANGAM’
A celebration of Linguistic Diversity ‘Bhasha Sangam’ initiated by the Department of School
Education and Literacy was conducted at Cambridge School, Noida from 20 th November to 21st
December, 2018. Under this programme which marks the appreciation of the unique symphony of
languages of our country; some activities were conducted in the school. Senior students were
deputed to go to various classes and read out five commonly used simple sentences in English
and their equivalent in 22 languages. In another activity students also made posters depicting
various states highlighting the diverse culture and languages spoken in those states.
It was indeed an innovative way of familiarising students with some basic and frequently used
sentences in different languages. This simple exercise may help students to converse with people
while visiting other states.

CELEBRATION OF QUAMI EKTA WEEK
‘Quami Ekta Week or National Integration Week which was observed all over the country from 19-
25 November, 2018 to reinforce the spirit of communal harmony, national integration and pride in
our vibrant composite culture and nationhood culminated in a festival of Inter-School Competitions
in Literary, Art and Cultural activities –‘IMAGE’ based on the theme Quest or Anveshan at
Cambridge School, Noida.
A host of competitions were held to bring forth the essence of Quami Ekta. Events were conducted
like Seminars and symposium, India Quiz, Soch (Hindi), Think Tank and Battle of Wits (English)
emphasising the theme of Secularism, National Integration and Environment conservation.
Linguistic Harmony found expression in literary events like Kavi Sammelan, Khoj – Hindi Kavita
Vaachan, Story Telling, The Fountainhead- Creative Writing Poetry Competition and Sanskrit
Gayan evam Lekhan.

To present the Indian tradition of unity in diversity and for promoting cultural conservation and
integration competitions like Laya Samvad, Swar Sadhna, Group Folk Song, Group Folk Dance
and Art Competitions were organised. The importance of women in Indian society and their role in
nation building were brought out in Nukkad Natak, Radio Buzz, etc.
The school endeavours to foster the spirit of national integration, cultural harmony amongst
students by engaging them in various activities and competitions throughout the academic
session.

ACTIVITIES OF QUIZ CLUB
The students of Quiz Club of classes IX and X organized a quiz on current affairs and important
events of 2018 for the students of classes VI & VII on 28th December, 2018 in the Roma Deb
auditorium, Cambridge School, Noida. Two students from each section were chosen to participate
in the preliminary round. The 8 highest scorers were chosen for the stage round which was
conducted in the auditorium. The Quiz Masters were K Abhimanyu Nair and Shaswat Mehrotra of
Class X. The quiz was a conceptualized by members of the Quiz Club. The winners were- Ritwik
Shriram of Class VII D and Aryan of Class VII C.
The quiz was very informative and was enjoyed and appreciated by all the teachers and students.

WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS FOR STUDENTS
ATAL TINKERING LABORATORY (ATL) On 4th December, 2018 students of Class VIII performed the following activities in groups:
Made an electroscope.
Electrolysis of water.
Opened a speaker to study its parts and to understand it’s working.
Worked on the design to make a Hydraulic pump.
Worked on the design of a working model of the Solar System.
All the students thoroughly enjoyed working on their projects and activities.

On 6th December, 2018 four students of Class VIII worked to make a Tesla Coil. They learned
to identify resistors by the colour and bands on them. They learned the difference between
welding and soldering and using a soldering iron soldered many electric components to make
the circuit.

COMMERCE WORKSHOP A Peak Performance Workshop was conducted by Dr. Vikas Vijay for the Commerce students of
Classes XII A&B on 20th December 2018 at the Seminar Room in Cambridge School, Noida. The
main focus of the workshop was to help students (a) complete the paper in time (b) enhance
performance and (c) increase their retention power. The workshop was attended by Ms. Sumathy

and Ms. Preeti Sharma and around 40 students from Classes XII A&B. The students found the
workshop interesting and informative.

DENTAL HYGIENE AWARENESS WORKSHOP
A dental hygiene awareness workshop was conducted by Dr. Seema Bhayana and Dr. Ravi
Bhayana on 4thDecember, 2018 at Cambridge School, Noida in the Roma Deb auditorium.
Approximately 500 students of classes VI to VIII attended the workshop which educated them
about some common dental ailments like tooth decay, gum diseases and measures to prevent
them. The students were told about proper brushing technique and usage of proper tooth brush
and tooth paste.

WORKSHOP – SCIENCE IN MY LIFE
The event forms a part of a series of nationwide programs under the co-ordination of Dr H C
Verma, renowned professor of IIT Kanpur and under the aegis of The National Academy of
Sciences, India. The workshop was hosted by Shiv Nadar School, Noida on 6thDecember,
2018. Ten students, five each from Classes IX and XI along with Ms. Rachna Arora participated in
the event. The programme explored the beauty of laws of Physics hidden in common day to day

observations through videos and live demonstrations by the resource person Dr Pragya. The
students found the experience very educative and informative.
Science in everyday life
FRENCH WORKSHOP
On 20th December, 2018, Cambridge School, Noida hosted an interactive French learning
Workshop for Class VIII A&B by Ms. Babusha Verma, a French language expert, who is currently
working as the French faculty at the St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University and Bhartiya Vidhya
Bhawan. The workshop began with a French song by the students of Class VIII followed by a
“code of conduct” welcoming the guest Ms. Babusha Verma. She began the session by
highlighting the benefits of the language and the career it offers. She also mentioned the
Francophone areas (the French speaking nations) and the scope of French as a third language.
The students not only learnt about the usage of the language but also interacted with each other in
French (in the form of French dialogues). It was a very interesting and enjoyable experience and
the audience was kept engaged throughout.

GERMAN LANGUAGE ORIENTATION WORKSHOP
In today’s world, knowledge of a foreign language is always an asset. In order to apprise the
students about the scope and advantages of German language, a workshop was conducted by
Ms. Preeti Shah, Manager Educational Services, Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi and her
associate Ms. Acheena Kalra, for the German Language learners of Class VIII of Cambridge
School, Noida on 18th December, 2018 at the Roma Deb auditorium.
Parents were also requested to attend the same. Ms. Preeti enlightened them about all the
possible options, avenues one could explore. She also shared experiences of other school
students, about the language. It was really an interesting, informative and interactive session for
the students.

SPACE EXPLORERS WORKSHOP SPACE Explorers Workshop is a collection of four one day programmes designed to give students
a remarkable opportunity to participate, interact and experiment to find answers behind the
mysteries of the universe. Its focus is on teaching Space Science and Astronomy to students
through practical hands on experience which will help them develop their knowledge base as well
as life skills. A total of 48 students from Classes VI to IX have enrolled for the workshops. The first
workshop of the series on Surface Cartography was conducted on 26th December 2018 in the
Seminar Room of Cambridge School, Noida. In this workshop, the latest cartographic techniques
were introduced to the students by the educator from SPACE with the help of PPT presentation
and also hands on activities. The students enjoyed the workshop and found it very interesting and
educative.

SPACE: PROJECT PARIDHI
Project Paridhi was organized by SPACE India on 22nd December, 2018 at the Qutub Minar, New
Delhi. Five students from Class VI who were accompanied by Ms. Rachna Arora participated in
the event. Project Paridhi is a flagship project of SPACE and is conducted 4 times a year on days
of Solstices and Equinoxes. On 22nd December 2018 (the day of the winter solstice), the students
participated in the event to replicate the experiment performed by the Greek Astronomer
Eratosthenes, the first person who measured the size of the Earth about 3000 years ago. During
the hands-on activity, participants measured the shadow cast by the Sun, and using trigonometry
formula they calculated the circumference of the Earth. The event which was a great success was
also streamed live on the Facebook page of SPACE India.

CYBER CRIMES SEMINAR
Cambridge School Noida organized a Seminar for students of class VIII on ‘How Cyber Crimes
affect Mental Health’ on 13thDecember, 2018 in the Roma Deb Auditorium.
The Resource person was Mr. Sourayan Bhattacharya, an alumnus of Cambridge School, Noida
who is the Head of Centre for Specialization in Cyber Law studies in Symbiosis Law School,
Hyderabad. The session began with the video clipping on Pornographic Crimes- how a small boy’s
email gets hacked and how he is stalked by hackers which lead the boy into committing suicide.
Mr. Bhattacharya briefed the students about the various common cybercrimes like Cyber Stalking
and Cyber Bullying which includes-

The School Counsellor, Ms. Garima gave useful inputs on how Internet usage is affecting the
development of our Brain. She reiterated that less screen time is beneficial; students need to play

CAPACITY BUILDING FOR TEACHERS
CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP BY CBSE
A two day Capacity Building Programme on ‘Inclusion and Inclusive Strategies focusing on sharing
ideas and resources for improvement in teaching learning process was conducted by the CBSE,
Centre of Excellence for Teachers, Dehradun. The training was scheduled at BILLABONG HIGH
INTERNATIONAL, Noida on 30th November and 01st December 2018. The workshop was
attended by the Special Educator of Cambridge School, Noida Ms. Roomki Mitra. The workshop
highlighted the different facets of inclusive practices in school. It addressed different forms of
disabilities like neurological, physical, hearing impairment, vision impairment, learning difficulty,
ADD/ADHD along with PDD spectrum disorders. Early signs of disability, early intervention
strategies in the classroom and role of each stake holder were discussed in an inclusive setup.
Specific Case studies were carried out by the groups and best practices were shared to ensure
participation of all learners with diverse range of abilities.
CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) WORKSHOP
Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy (VP Academics) and Ms. Anubha Rawat (TGT-English) attended a
workshop organised by the British Council on 5th December 2018 at The Leela Ambience, Delhi.
The Resource person, Ms Jemima provided an insight into the British Council’s Continuing

Professional Development (CPD) framework. The workshop focussed on professional values and
practices, enabling skills and the importance of Leading teaching and learning.
NATIONAL TEACHERS SCIENCE CONGRESS (NTSC) Vikram Sarabhai Community Science Centre (VASCSC) hosted the 9th NTSC from 14 th to 16th
December, 2018 at Ahmedabad at the Centre for Environment Education (CEE) campus,
Ahmedabad. The focal theme for 9th NTSC was ‘Design Literacy for Effective Science
Communication by Educators’.
National Teachers Science Congress (NTSC) is a joint initiative of the National Council for
Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science and Technology
(DST), Govt. of India.
The event was inaugurated by Dr K Kasturirangan, eminent Scientist & ex-Chairperson of ISRO,
who advocated the adoption of “design thinking’, a rich and dynamic process that emphasizes
inquiry, innovation, and problem solving by the teachers and educators.
It is a matter of great pride for Cambridge School, Noida as one of its Science faculty member Ms.
Rachna Arora was invited to present her paper titled Enriching Lives was on the subtheme
“Science Education for All”. The paper focused on the current educational ecosystem which
shapes the basic understanding of the concept of science of general masses & the various
methods which can facilitate to make “science communication” a high priority for all citizens.
The oral presentation was for 10 minutes followed by 5 minutes of questioning by the panellists.
The paper was well received and appreciated by the panellists. The event was a true blend and
confluence of projecting science as a pedagogical and research subject, working persistently and
tirelessly to improve the interests of mankind in harnessing the best out of us.

TRIPS AND EXCURSIONS
VISIT TO SETU SCHOOL NOIDA
A few students of Cambridge School, Noida visited Setu Shiksha Jyoti Kendra Sector 31 Noida on
18th December, 2018 for identification of counselling needs of students in the school. It is an
organization which has been working towards educating destitute children, focusing on education
of the girl child, women empowerment and skill development programs. As a part of the Interact
club activity, it was to reach out to the children in the school and identify various psychological and
emotional needs of the students. The Project Head, Ms Jyotsna suggested that the teachers
should be made a part of the teacher training programmes held in Cambridge which will help them
to guide the students in a more effective manner.
